In the Netherlands the Civic costs 7500 euro more than the Corolla Hybrid……says it all. Toyota is far more competitive and bestseller, Honda, marginal sales in Europe.

When I switched to Sport-L Accord Hybrid my insurance went up. Went back to gas vehicle and now insurance went down. No more fog lights?! That’s a huge let down. When I had the Accord Hybrid the visibility sucked! Went back to a 2024 Civic Touring Sport Hatchback which has the fog lights. Excellent visible at night! Way better! The new civic being hybrid with no more fog lights as well, yea it’s a hard pass for me. Plus that 2.0 engine is horrible. With the 1.5 you can customize and tune that baby to like 220 horses. Maybe more.
I love Civics. But that new front-end? Not sure. The wheels on the model you showed ARE fabulous.
All that matters if it comes with ventilated seats and ambient lighting.
Taking a Corolla over a civic everyday of the week. Like I did when I bought my Corolla. Corolla is more comfortable and has more interior space.
Ugh, I wish Honda and Toyota would stop plopping cheap plastic Toys R Us quality infotainment screens on top of the dash. They are eyesores and like scratching on a chalkboard. Integrate the infotainment screen INTO the dash.
Was almost sold on the new Accord but couldn't stomach what they did to the exterior. Now I'm just waiting on the Civic hybrid and will most definitely get a hatch.
The Corolla can't compete with this, and the Prius is lacking interior volume. Plus, Toyota dealers still trying to tack on markups + their little TSRP BS, and I just don't want to support that behavior.
Civic more expensive, tech not as proven as bulletproof Toyota's SynergyDrive. MPG, seems to compete with Prius / Corolla pretty well. Not sure on highway speeds. Availability a question mark (both unobtainium when I ordered the Corolla), although I waited 10 months for a Corolla Touring, and dealers are price-gouging Toyotas in the US.
I would only compare it with the Sedan (or better, the Touring), not the Hatch, or the Cross.
Given these caveats, the Civic is better overall, reliability, a question mark, but it's still a Honda.
IMO, both efficient affordable compact cars, that are not stupid SUVs. I debated a long time between the two, went with tried and tested Corolla Touring (although 2.0L is new Dynamic Force dual-injection engine).
BTW, I saw a Civic E:Hev parked the other day, and it doesn't look as big as I thought. It's still a compact, a larger one, but it's low, and very comparable to the Corolla or Prius in size.

The thing with honda is…they dont do awd sedans, so they'll never get in toyota's way within the hybrid scene
I wish Honda adopted the perforated synthetic leather for their lower models. We have it in our VW Atlas and was a bit skeptical but wears better than my Honda Accord leather.
I'm sad the manuel or stick is slowly being faded out. Look good though
it comes down to pricing. For someone who drive less than 10K km per year, may take many years to break even.
As a Brit who has had the Civic hybrid for 18 months the car is way better than the Toyota – but the styling tweaks appear to show you yanks will accept any old rubbish – those wheels are awful but maybe you like shiny things
