  8. I too believed that this was some sort of coordinated attack from an enemy nation, as anarchist/terror cells gains little to no benefit from doing this. While the argument could be made that the fringe minority extremism group can claim power once all the old heads off their offspring, the virus could still be active in their systems as well.

    I don’t know what show it was from. It was one of those weird, X-files spinoff shows from the late 90s. I was up one night watching it as a kid, and while it was something a 7 year old should most definitely not have been watching, the premise was interesting and really stuck with me.

    An alien race targeted earth by spreading pheromones in the air that made men attack women. It was a worldwide epidemic, and no matter what they tried, every biological male went out of his way to attack any female.

    When females then claimed ‘critically endangered’ status, the aliens made their presence known and began the invasion. If the humans can’t reproduce, then a takeover should go off without a hitch. Maybe this is in the same vain. Have the humans eliminate their offspring so that, when the invasion occurs, there won’t be any prolonged fighting. Maybe?

  9. if the thing in the movie was some sort of attack it would totally make sense to launch it in two steps
    step one some sort of chemical has been used maybe in the water or through the air altering the function of the brain
    step two is the signal within the tv static basicly activating the aggresion with a special frequenzy

  12. When this movie first came out I remember people discussing whether it would affect adoptive parents or parents who are unknowingly raising a child who isn't their bio child. Your explanation of it playing on the changes in the brain that come with having children, which are seen in people who adopt too, would mean that adoptive parents/parents who care about their kids would all be undergoing this too, right? Or do you think it would be lacking some mechanism to work on them?

    This movie actually spooked me quite a bit, in part because of scenes where parents would viciously take out their own kids while being so kind and caring toward everyone else and sincerely so. The idea that something in your brain could make you turn on someone you love without even seemingly understanding that's what you're doing, without changing your personality in any other way, is haunting.

  18. Hey papa Roanoke that sceen with the crows. It could be that the crows were having whats called crow court. Its very interesting and i only learned about it last year. Crows are the only other species that will hold a trial from other members of there flock, group, if they do something illegal such as stealing food from the young, stealing an egg or a child, even taking food from other crows.   26. I’ve been watching Roanoke for a long time now, and I’ve come to two plausible explanations:

    1) Scriptwriters are way smarter than we think and do a lot of homework.

    2) Roanoke is incredible at rationalizing anything into a working hypothesis, no matter how insane.

    I know which one is the most likely, but your mileage may vary.

  29. Ok. Mom and Dad is from 2017. I guess there were still a decent number of TVs that displayed static.
    Or maybe the "static" wasn't really actual channel static but something deliberately transmitted on a channel or channels which visually mimicked static from a cursory glance but really was some kind of programming.
    I remember a STNG episode where Geordi invented this multi dimensional shape that the Borg would then analyze. The mere act of analyzing it would cause them to think in a way which would initiate a collective-wide command to shut down.
    Perhaps this TV image, combined with the other stuff, would cause a specific sequence of neurons firing, chemical changes, etc which would activate the already present "other stuff".
    I happen to believe this is giving this marginal movie wayyy to much credit.
