The Negatives Of The Worlds Biggest Tech Show. CES 2023

I go back for day number two at the CES show in Las Vegas and explore a bit more of the automotive side, include the EV Hummer from @GeneralMotors, the new hybrids from @Jeep, and the autonomous and remote controlled vehicles from @CatProducts.
There was definitely some cool new stuff there that was awesome to see from the above companies, and of course @EcoFlowTech who was nice enough to get us exhibitor passes to the event. But there was also quite a few companies that left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth about the event and tech industry in general. For starters, companies like Hyundai and a few others who refused to talk to you unless you were invited by them, and Samsung who literally had bouncers at the entrance to their displays keeping people from looking.

Then there was all the virtual reality and augmented reality companies showing off what is truly world changing technology, but pointing it in the wrong direction. I didn’t film any of that tech because for one, it’s very hard to get something that’s not physically real in front of your face on camera. And two, because I didn’t want to promote companies that have the ability to change people’s lives, but are completely wasting the opportunity by aiming towards a different audience.

I’m someone who has spent a good portion of my life laying in a hospital bed with a body that made me miss out on a lot of experiences that others were able to do, so I understand how that feels and is why I hate the fact that these companies have the technology to put on a pair of goggles and transport yourself anywhere in the world, but are marketing it to gamers and young people because that’s where they think the money is.
Imagine how amazing it would be for someone in a wheelchair to be able to go out that hiking trail to a waterfall that they could never see in person. Or the elderly man who’s worked his body into the ground his whole life to finally be able to climb the mountain and see Machu Picchu. Or a person who’s body has them trapped in a hospital bed to simply be able to walk through their favorite city or see the sunset on the beach.

This augmented and virtual reality technology can truly change people’s lives, and I’d really love to see it being pushed in that direction, but that’s far from what I saw them doing at CES. Now granted, I didn’t even come close to seeing everything or all the displays and demonstrations that were there, so there very well could be some companies pushing for exactly that that I just missed, and I truly hope that’s the case, but I just had to shake my head and walk away from the handful that I did talk to.

My goal with this channel is to help people and show that even a small amount of effort on your part can make a huge difference in someone’s life. So with that in mind I have some ideas to take what this channel does even farther, and I’d love for you guys to be a part of it. So stay tuned while I work out the specifics of it, and let’s make some real changes in the world!

  2. There are so many more of us out here that agree with everything you said during your CES walkabout. I agree with you on the Ecoflow Tech line of products, especially after Andrew @ Kelly's Country Life did a video of testing and backed up everything you have said about their products. I truly always enjoy and look forward to your uploaded content. I hope you enjoy the time with the fam but get back out there and save all of those stuck people in Oregon that need you. You have great redneck content that I like. You do need to consider a "Week with Casy" give away. I would be in on that. I love driving/riding in old trucks too!

  4. It's nice to hear that Jeep and GM listened to you. I also never understood why people have booths at trade shows and you need an invitation. They probably have a next gen prototype they don't want the public to see unless you sign your life away. I like the shirt, sounds like a hat would have been a little better. Keep up the honesty and great videos! Also, you forgot to point out the professional Youtuber. I gotta say Red won the dance off. Did you see the robots in Japan that allow disabled people to work? it's very cool.

  5. Sometimes all of your hopes go up in smoke, and plans go south, way south. You know all too well. Thanks for the honesty and willingness to share your stories. You make a huge difference. You make a huge difference in our lives!
Thank you for once again thinking outside of the box and seeing another way a product can be used. VR trips would make life a whole lot more interesting, even with in the limitations of the film not always going where you might want. It beats not going at all, by a long shot!
    Loads and loads of thanks!😎

  6. oh damn can I relate about the senior citizen that still has bucket list places to go see. I'll be 70 later this month and had a major heart attack last May, resulting in triple bypass surgery. Walking around a big grocery store is about the most I'm capable of now. Still getting stronger, yes, but a LONG way to go. Somehow hiking to the bottom of the grand canyon just doesn't seem so possible any more.

  7. I like your VR! I’m disabled now n can’t go do towing or excvating no more! But hey it’s dudes like you that give me a chance to see what’s going on in the world! So thank Casey! I appreciate ya man! ALOT🙏👊🙌💯💪

  8. You say you aren't a tech guy, but your audio from the CES floor is better than 90% of the coverage I've seen throughout the years of CES. It's always so chaotic, and I can only really hear you and what's directly next to you.

  9. Red all the way Casey, blue is a quitter. I agree all the way about virtual reality and all that high tech stuff. ask your wife about the marketing angle. I like your vlog because you use older equipment but newer tech also such as the Ecoflow, etc.. Keep up the good work, most enjoyable.

  10. Tell Jeep and anyone who will listen, stop making full time all wheel drive and traction control. Stop adding stupid shit just so they can charge more, they have so much electronic crap they can't even get it all to work right! Jeep is a big culprit of this, electrical gremlins on all the newer ones

  11. Don't sell yourself short. Learning about tech is like learning anything else. You just have to want it and put in the effort. You learned how to start doing your own business and all the unique stuff you do. You can certainly learn tech.

  12. @16:40 shows how down to earth and great you are. a lot of the younger generation looks at their feet too much, instead of looking ahead. they would be extremely smart to listen to what you said.
also MAD props to @EcoFlowTech for reaching out to you with their great products!! a truly great partnership.

  13. I agree with your perception of corporations not treating there end users well.
Also agree with the VR marketing to those trapped by there bodies! Probably help with soldiers with PTSD ! My nephew who is in his 40's has CP, never walked a day in his life , always wheel chair bound !
An idea i had and have expressed before is doing something with those Eco Flow people and the war in Ukraine. They have lost power sources. All Eco Flow would have to do is change units to 220. Maybe start a gofundme page to ship units to Ukraine !

  17. Thanks for the tour of the show! There’s some pretty wild stuff out there. I like your idea of going on a trip without leaving my recliner. Enjoy your vacation with the family and in-laws! We were in Henderson visiting family recently too. Toured Lake Mead by Jeep. Pretty cool.✌️
