With her almond-shaped eyes and striking cheekbones, Queen Nefertiti is regarded as a symbol of female beauty. Her bust is one of the most iconic images in the world — a crowd puller, attracting 500,000 visitors every year to the Altes Museum in Berlin.
But have we all been misled? Swiss historian, Henri Stierlin, has spent the past 25 years researching Nefertiti. He believes that the famous bust, allegedly discovered by Ludwig Borchardt in 1912, is a fake.
Stierlin claims that instead of being a 3,400 year old statue of an ancient Egyptian queen, the bust was commissioned by Borchardt himself and is modelled on his own wife. Is he right? How can we explain the remarkable condition of the bust, especially when compared with other objects from the same era?

Is it a fake or not?
Nefertiti should be given back to Cairo. That's where she belongs. She was obviously taken out of Egypt illegally. As to if she is fake or not. It's very difficult to know. It's such a beautiful sculpture ❤

It just goes to show how the provenance of art is such a delicate and controversial subject. In this case I would go for copy or fake, as it's condition is too good.
She should go back to Egypt.
They'll never let that piece go. They did get it out with a fib. Maybe an elite Egyptian squad could go in and swipe it back. 🙄 Possession is 9/10ths.

The Bust is 100% Authentic. there's extra excavation in the same site where the Egyptian Authority found supporting evidence, based on they Built their case against Berlin Museum to claim the Bust to display it with the discovered collection of that studio. the only argument those people have. why her bust is preserved while Ikhnaton is damaged. it's very simple, Ikhnaton was the Enemy of the Religion Authority. after the fall of his fantastic state. they make it their job to vandalize any of his monuments wherever they found it. in the same place the German Archeologist found several artifacts, part of it he gave to the Egyptian Museum. all in perfect condition except Ikhnaton. Why the Bust is so preserved. because the floor of the Studio was of Compacted Earth. that's why all the discovered artifacts was well preserved owing to the dry sand in that area, i believe the whole story of those people is just Smear Campaign.
AS FAKE AS IT GETS:::::
Nefertiti was made by the archaeologist Ludvig Borchard after he was under enormous pressure to deliver something that the royal family would be impressed with. Did he do it on purpose, or was it just a freak accident, its still debatable,he tried to hide it, he kept the statue for 20-30 years in his private collection, and never had any plans to "legalise" it with a place in a museum, but somehow.-someway that thing found her way to Museum. It is a clear forgery, not even done so well, but it is a central piece of Berlin Museum, a lot of money is on the line, and of course the reputation of Berlin Museum together with a lot of "experts" that vouched for the statue.
