  1. The Forbidden Episode is next. But because Rise is getting one more surprise update in June, I will have to wait with production until we know what the story and ecology of the mystery final monster is. Don't worry, there'll be enough content in the meantime to carry you over, so I really hope you stick with me until then!

    Notes:
    – All taxonomic species names are made-up.
    – The timeline re: Malzenos infection is extremely weird. It seems that it happened pretty recently, which would imply that there is only one Malzeno as we know it. But that is obviously untrue, as we kill multiple across various quests (every first time completion of a quest counts as "canon"). So while this Documentary assumes the entire species is infected, we don't actually know – the update in June might as well change that, and the compilation release will be corrected if that happens.

  2. ahh, the Citadel… one of my 4 favourite maps (the others being the Verdant Hills, the Marshlands and the Everwood). why? mostly because it's got a forest, a swamp (not the mire marsh) and a ruined fortress.
and also because most of the monsters appear there.

6:21 and for some reason there's no gear unique to them. we could have had an armour set and SnS in reference to Goblin Slayer (they're basically MonHun's goblins).

i view Garangolm as the Troll of the MonHun universe, mixed with a Golem and hints of Giant.

Lunagaron… it's about time we got a proper wolf monster, even though it has scales, not fur. but it's also a Werewolf – an *"Old World Werewolf", as i call it.
ever heard of the Beast of Gévaudan? it most likely was an adolescent lion, but how it was depicted was a large, black wolf with a lionine tail.

Gore/Shagaru… my old friend. i'm not sure what Gore could be in terms of mythological references, but i can assume that Shagaru is an Angel. the main structure of the fortress is a church, and the dragon resides on the very top of the mountainous area (as high as an angelic-looking monster can get); not sure about you, but it makes sense to me.
side note: Risen Shaggy is a blast! favourite Risen dragon.

i know Malzeno is primarily based on a vampire – Dracula, specifically… but if you remove the vampire, you're left with the dragon: the kind you find on heraldry (i feel like everyone doesn't know this)… but also the kind a knight would slay, like Fatalis.
by the by, you missed Malzeno's breath attack: you could pass it off as a power granted by the Qurio… if it didn't inflict Dragonblight – i should know, i got hit by it once or twice.
but while i'm talking about of Malzeno, you're saying it once had a different "disposition" before it became a vampire? perhaps the new variant coming in June is what Malzeno used to be.

  3. I hope we get to see the original Malzeno in the upcoming title update, a much more uniquely passive creature by nature. Since "mal" as a prefix in English means "bad," I can imagine the more peaceful form it once was might be called "Euzeno," since "eu" as a prefix means "good" (I doubt Malzeno was named with this in mind, but I just thought the idea was neat).

Then again, there would be the challenge of justifying why we'd even fight its nicer, weaker version in the first place, especially as the final monster.

  4. I'm sorry if this is a bit over the top but honestly your videos are absolutely incredible, that did NOT feel like 40 minutes. Thank you so much for these videos because i love them.

  5. Now I'm curious about what Malzeno looked and acted like before the Quirio. Because it was called a guardian I'm guessing was predisposed to forming symbiotic relationships with the things around it including humans, but now it's only a guardian to the Quirio. Considering it's bat like wing thumb claw I imagine it used that to navigate the branches of the areas large trees when our was to crowded to fly.

  6. I might be overthinking, but of the malzeno was changed from a guardian to a bloodhound, enough to even change its whole appearance, what did it originally look like?
