The Mystery of the Lake Michigan Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle isn’t the only watery region with a reputation for unexplainable events and tragedies. For centuries, a triangular portion of Lake Michigan has been ground zero for sunken ships, disappearing crews, and vanishing aircraft. As if these incidents aren’t creepy enough, what is now known as the Lake Michigan Triangle is also notorious for UFO sightings and strange lights appearing on the horizon.

  1. I've lived in ludington my whole life. I only heard of this triangle about 10 years ago. Maybe the events are mostly further South because I've never heard of anything strange locally

  3. There is also a similar famous bermuda triangle in lake superior. Several stories and abnormalities seen there as well. The lakes are definetly not good to mess with when the weather isnt perfect

  5. interesting video. TONS of out dated, erroneous and speculative information, but interesting. some of the ship wrecks you claim were due to the "great lakes triangle" were no where near the great lakes triangle. Aliens are still SUPER speculative. and the "great lakes stone henge is not even in that area. its in Grand travers bay. thanks for the laugh though.

  6. I been in 93 mph winds in lake Michigan. caught in a storm coming through manitou pass. rode it out in good harbor 4 hours of the scariest wind waves of my life…the sleeping bear dunes were closed for two weeks after the storm …funny thing is…..when we left the island that afternoon…weather was fine no storm watch no rain even predicted ?????

  7. I think that "missing man" chose to get away from his life then changed his mind and reappeared. No mystery there. He probably has another family elsewhere. Oh well if his wife wants to believe him that's on her.

  8. If you are visiting the Great Lakes remember they are not a tranquil lake. Fresh water in land seas that generate thier own weather and dangerous storms. Strong currents and the water is incredibly cold even in August. Lakes Michigan and Superior are stunningly beautiful.

  9. given how supposedly the bermuda traingle has these deep uderwater geologic areas that might screw with sonar and ship equipment I wouldn't be hard pressed to assume that something likewise geologic might partially help explain the reason for why the lake michigan trinagle has all this weird stuff happening, we just don't know enough in front on why yet..

  10. Your footage of Taras Lysenko has a playful seal in the background not sure they are native to the Great Lakes. Yes I know the footage is not that critical to the story just had to laugh (yes I am a Michigander)

  11. The Lake Michigan Triangle might be a psychological trap.
Very interesting video, I had no idea of this mystery.
It would be fun to look for the lost ships and the airplane.
    Thank you for the video.

  12. I would recommend the White Hurricane of 1913. Worst storm ever to hit the Great Lakes in our known history.

On topic, as a native of Muskegon, these Lakes are dangerous beyond belief. Waves can get 35 feet in severe storms and are so close together they can destroy any major vessel if they aren't careful.

6000 known wrecks in the waters are proof of that.

  13. There is a mental illness called a "Fuegue" state. You can read about it in a DSM 5 and it particularly happened to guys after trauma such as World War One veterans. But women have been known to have it. Folks settle far away get jobs get married and then start to have break through memories and are found by loved ones looking for them or folks back home. We have so many survival states it makes some sense to me.

  14. Can you look into doing a show about the small town of Casdaga, Florida. Where psychics and 'witches' were banished to, so they made a community of their own
