Learn the terrifying, true story about thirteen months that changed history! In November of 1966 a car full of kids encountered a creature unlike anything they’d ever seen before. In the weeks and months to follow, the monster (now known as The Mothman) was sighted again and again on country roads and around the state of West Virginia.

As the sightings continued so did an increase in unusual activity. At the center of this bizarre series of events was the town of Point Pleasant, WV. A small burb situated on the banks of the Ohio river with a lengthy history of what many might call bad luck. Over the next thirteen months Point Pleasant would undergo one of the strangest outbreaks of paranormal activity the world has ever seen. An outbreak that eventually ended in tragedy.

  1. My uncle Terry worked for the Army Corps of Engineer’s when the Silver Bridge fell into the Ohio River. He was on the recovery team that pulled bodies and vehicles from the river. He told me stories I’ll never forget.

  2. "With his dying breath, he cursed the town for 200 years." ROFLOL, really his last thought was not about his family and friend to say he loved them, his last breath was to curse the town, not the soldiers responsible for his death, or the army, but the town for 200 years, he was clear of mind while dying a violent death to specify two hundred years… really?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. Once again great content. I do plan on attending the Mothman festival this September. Such a sad event for the residents of the community and I always wonder if seeing the Mothman is really a sign of something catastrophic happening?

  5. I've only told a handful of people what I am about to tell you. Several years back I lived and still do in the mountains near sleepy creek state forest off of Hedgesville wv I was driving through the valley and this huge bird like thing flew down and stopped in the road and I stopped too. It was about 8/9 feet tall if not more, huge eyes wing span from one side of my car to the other, a beak pointed down. It started at me and flew off. I swear what I have stated is 💯 % true. There is more to this but don't have enough letters left

  7. Fascinating story, while I love mysteries I wish I could just know what it was and see it for myself. It's infuriating. Those poor people on the bridge. Entertaining and informative but also sensitive film making, thank you.

  8. Cool. A Mothman documentary. Nice way to round out my Sunday. I once watched that movie "The Mothman Prophecies". It was kind of lame. Hope this is better.
EDIT : WOW! This was very well done! Loved all the eyewitness accounts on video and audio. I truly believe a couple of those people really saw what they say they saw. Very credible accounts. Changes my whole perception of this Mothman phenomena. I still have no idea on what this thing is : supernatural, alien, real. Who knows? But I do know I sure don't ever want to see it!

  9. In my candid opinion. I think that's EXACTLY why the bridge collapse happened. To deflect attention off of these Mothman, UFO, & Men in Black sightings/experiences. Granted it could have just been a coincidence that the bridge collapsed during the same time period as these sightings etc…But anyone who knows our government should realize the lengths they will go too in terms of quieting a panic over something they don't want talked about. Just sayin folks.

  11. Native Americans have many legends detailing creatures like this as well. Quite interesting. I'm skeptical, but with the recent developments in physics and quantum theory I believe a lot more is probably going on than we understand, and maybe never will.

  12. About 7 minutes into this, and some guy states Cornstalk "reportedly murdered over a land dispute" quote……just strikes me as continuing the language of colonization and genocide of these lands by immigrants. Pretty disgusting language and another Caucasian perpetuation of "rightness" for the overall genocide and attempts to those ends to take over lands at the time. I hope for better editing from STM moving forward. Folks can have their say, but giving voice to this guy being so declarative in their assumption triggers me for some reason. No wonder these lands may be haunted. At least the show could more firmly acknowledge the death and destruction of first peoples those overseas immigrants did in their quest for control and domination of these US of A lands.

  13. That was a beautiful documentary. I know you have to include "horror" to get views, but I think this may be the most touching, and least patronizing, depiction of the people of Point Pleasant and the disaster. A moving memorial to a troubled time as well as a great cryptid documentary. The SMT team never fails to produce excellent content. Thank y'all!

  14. I wanted to enjoy this. But the loud background music is too distracting. I struggle to hear what people are saying. Background music is great for visual aspects of video, but not so great when someone is speaking.

  15. The script for this documentary is fantastic and Lyle Blackburn’s narration is perfect. Great job, guys.
I used to live in Gallipolis. The whole area just has a different vibe.
