The Retcon gun is terrifying. Want to know why? Hit Vect or The Emperor with it and find out when one of the millenia old leaders are erased from history.
Problem with Retcon gun I see is if it does what the video says it does it would be useless as a weapon. Each user would discard it after first shot believing it does nothing since he cannot recall existence of enemy he just slain. As a person holding the gun you'd recall using it – pulling the trigger but none of it's effects. Unless user would be partially immune to it's effects and able to recall existence of its targets then only logical behavior would be discarding the weapon as malfunctioning, useless or out of charge/ammo. Why would Astartes continue using a weapon when he cannot recall in his memory effects it has but definitely remembers pulling the trigger. Not to mention how dangerous it is for the user himself cause he could erase from his mind information crucial for survival of humanity.

Breathe of the gods was insanity. The books preists / gods or mars were also amazing books.
The time altering effects meant that star systems were been ripped apart and put back together hours later. If left unchecked it would have destroyed all timelines in the current universe also.
The Retcon gun seems like it would cause a temporal paradox every time it is fired. If they never existed, then they didn't exist at the moment you took aim and pulled the trigger, in which case why would you think to shoot the gun at something that doesn't exist? So the fact that it doesn't erase everything and you can remember the basics of who you are shooting at is probably a necessary feature. Though if he was shooting his ship's crew, then how did the ship get maintained by a crew that never existed?
Black holes are a point mass and in theory would pass through any object it touched. Fundamental forces can still deflect it, but in most cases only the gravity of a large object would have a noticeable effect. It would deal immense damage to anything it passed through though.
According to the theory that made Stephen Hawking famous black holes emit a certain kind of radiation which slowly reduces their mass over time. Ironically smaller black holes, such as those made by a ship, emit more radiation than larger black holes. As it gets smaller the process speeds up resulting in an explosion. You would have to calculate the mass, distance, and velocity carefully to make it explode on target. Some have suggested that black holes could be used as a power source, converting mass in pure energy or a starship drive, IRL. Though I suppose you would have to be very careful to prevent it from getting too small, or too large, or touching the sides of the container.
It is possible that the Gravity Trebuchet was always meant as a form of travel and not a weapon. Without FTL getting near the speed of light is helpful, and it is easier with an external accelerator. Of course a train is mostly a form of transportation, still gets hurt to get hit by one.

Hello, a very interesting topic is the Abyssal crusade.. It's very little talked about nowadays on 40k youtube channels.
Unsure if Vortex Grenades & Missiles have been done. But the idea of a person being able to throw a grenade or launch a missile from a titan and cause a an unstable vortex (warp hole/black hole) to appear on the battle field. That's before you take into account the devistation if such weapons were to be launched into a volcano

That Retcon gun goes a LONG way to explain just how absurdly distorted human history has become and just how there will NEVER be any solid factual answers about the Emporer or the other immortals.
The Omega level problem is that IF the big E ever did use it against "certain people" that he knew he would risk some very nasty effects. For example if he was nothing more then a Golden Age created Singularity he could've literally Reconned himself out of existence! It's the olde Hitler baby question…
A quick comment about the gravitic trebuchet. Note I'm not a physicist so take everything with a grain of salt, but it is a subject I've spent a lot of time reading about.
The speed of light is 300,000,000 m/s not km/s.
Our computers can't calculate the damage of something traveling faster than light because our math doesn't allow for it. In the equation e=mc2, the c represents the speed of light. By this equation for something to travel at the speed of light it either needs infinite energy or to have zero mass, so to exceed the speed of light it would have to exceed infinite energy (a dubious prospect outside 40k) or to have negative mass.
The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was traveling roughly 7-10% of c. Traveling at 99% of c, something with the mass of a baseball could wipe out our planet.
Time weapons. Deeply, deeply stupid. And hear i had thought warhammer had avoided the idiocy of time travel. Guess not. Good bye respect for warhammer..

You could refer the retcon gun as the Weeping Angel as any homage to the similarities to Doctor Who's enemy by the same name.
The retcon gun is not written very well in how it explained what it does. In truth it should have been like having blanks in his memory, similar to those times. you wake up with no memory of having fallen asleep. He should have suddenly found himself holding the gun as if he had just aimed it at an enemy, but the hallway before was empty. The weapon still warm as though he had just fired it, but though he was sure he had, he could not recall at what, or why. Writing this way would have really created the mystery of the weapon itself, because not even the reader would be able to remember that the weapon had erased something out of existence and time. The point could be driven further, by the Astartes questioning why his ship felt under crewed later, and how many of the day to day ship board operations were getting done when there weren't the personal around to complete those tasks.

Thank you for including The Twice-Dead King: Reign in this video! It is an incredible 40K book, and a genuinely inspired piece of literature. It brought humanity and tragedy to the necrons that was honestly tear-jerking. If you ever wanted to do a future video about The Twice-Dead King duology or on Oltyx, I'm sure there's tons of folks who would be jazzed to hear your analysis!
The Retcon Gun sounds like a perfect form of capitol punishment. The offender and their heinous acts are plucked from history. No one suffers because no one remembers. Perhaps, it never happened at all?

In my opinion we lack some specific info on the orary cause we don't know it's rate of destruction maybe it can only kill 1 star a year or maybe it's limitless, the breath of the gods seems to drain stars across time and using time warp bring all the energy in an instant but maybe it takes millions of years to drain said stars so idk those are the 2 most powerful but it's hard to tell which is first
The "Retcon Gun" was probably never replicated or developed into larger platforms because the creator was likely a victim of the weapon, leaving no one who understood how to make it… or even who remembered who had made it…
As to the Nova Cannon, I feel it doesn't necessarily fit here. It is like a lasgun. We have theory and description, and then we have the practicum of field use. A lasgun can supposedly kill a tank or astartes, but in experience, this would be incredibly rare. A Nova Cannon can supposedly destroy a fleet in one shot, but in experience of video game or tabletop, it has a 50/50 chance of killing an unshielded light cruiser, and couldn't actually cripple an unshielded battleship. Shielded, a battleship will shrug off that hit and close range to savage the firing vessel. It's one of those awesome 40k weapons that, while truly awesome, is often exaggerated in lore.
I think the relic Nanite Blaster (the gray goo gun) might have belonged here. Like a Voltkyte, individuals around the target can be affected, but unlike a Viltkyte, this ability can carry on as long as others are in range of the subsequent explosions. A single shot from that weapon has a reasonable chance of eliminating an entire Ork green tide or Tyranid swarm…
