The successful line of Sikorsky Aircraft’s long-running CH-53 series of helicopters found renewed emphasis in the 21st century with its latest iteration: the unmatched King Stallion.
As an evolution of its predecessors, the CH-53K King Stallion resulted from 50 years of development and operational excellence. Able to carry up to 36,000 pounds on its single center point cargo hook, the robust helicopter entered service with the US Marine Corps as the service’s main heavy-lift helicopter just in time.
In the fall of 2021, a MH-60S got stuck in the White Mountains of California. And there was only one aircraft powerful enough to retrieve it.
As Lieutenant Colonel Luke Frank, leader of the Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron One, stated: (QUOTE) “This is exactly what the K is made to do. Heavy lift is a unique and invaluable mission for the Marine Corps. Horsepower is our weapon system and the CH-53K is armed to the teeth.”

My unit recovered a downed UH-60 Blackhawk in a 2000+m high mountain range in Afghanistan in under 8 hours with a CH-47 that was of Viet Nam vintage. I wonder what took them so long to recover the one in your video?
"can even carry a humvee" – I'm guessing in the cargo bay.
While it carries a larger load underneath.
I am no engineer. I wonder why we do not have a heavy lift vehicle modeled after the quad-rotor drones we see all over the place. Im sure there is a very obvious answer to this.
Just by another 300 of these instead of the tilt rotar helicopters that keep crashing and killing people
Anyone know the song that play from 5:00 to 8:50? Dark, can you put the name of the songs you use in the description please? Sometimes we can Shazam them.
Thanks
As a former Vietnam War veteran who flew choppers in the war, wow we have come so far. Compared to the old Huey’s these are night and day. Although I still love the old Bell Huey’s
While it does look a bit less like the 3rd engine was grafted on, how feasible would a symmetrical 4 engine layout be for these?
Go USA I'm so glad uda helps the world if we didn't believe in God In we trust countries would have it way worse than they do now thank you uda leaders and military God bless all
I've extracted from Al Mazrah more times than I can remember on one of these bad boys
My friend was killed when one he was flying in crashed in Iraq.
,, "Two" cargo hooks are better than one , the cargo won't be swinging endlessly 。!。 !。。
Thanks for the shout-out to VMX-1! I was proud to serve with the outstanding Marines of Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 from 2017-2021. Thank you, Dark Skies
high altitude… like in the Himalayas when we go to war with China
God I wish we could comment on the commercials that play before the videos… some goin is swilling some self defense book, talking about “most people don’t know how to execute a proper groin-strike” like, buddy, any man out there, ANY MAN OUT THERE fuckin knows exactly how to execute a proper groin strike as he also knows it doesn’t take an exact, death dealing blow to hurt, all you gotta do is graze nuts to make it hurt. If you’re a man, and you’re unsure how you’d go about kicking or slapping another guy’s nuts in order to make it hurt and be a bit more than an inconvenience, it’s because you’re actually a lady.
That’s a big ol budda-budda-budda-budda….
CH-53s are Great.
Seen some german CH-53 in Bosnia, impressive hardware.
I remember one helicopter pilot of HC-9 (USNavy C-SAR unit, 1977-1978) flying HH-3’s, he did not trust any aircraft he couldn’t fly backwards (tail first)
Marines love their '53s. That's says quite a bit.
Transformers vs transmitters 🪖🪖⚔️🪖
Unfortunately those who have never served in the military will probably never understand the relationship between helicopters and war. I was in Vietnam and helicopters were essiential.
great stuff as always, Chers from Florida…..Paul
7:05 No, the K model does not have twice the lifting capacity of the H model.
