The More You Learn About Delves The Less You Like Them

World of Warcraft the War Within will bring us a new single=player feature – Delves! Is this the new Torghast or Warfronts, or will it actually change the game for the better for solo players like Mythic+ did for small group content?

  1. I was looking at delves as a better version of proving grounds and dungeon specific. I have no problem failing as long as it is passable with varying levels of ease dependant on number of real players and level of gear.

  2. I am a former heroic raider and i dont enjoy raiding in retail anymore for a few patches now. Its fine but i dont give a shit about it anymore. I dont ever liked m+. My skill level is high enough no problem. I just dont enjoy the content. I tend to do and enjoy world content and gold farming now. If i get a solo way to farm really good gear including dying again and again and not dealing with people bitching / leaving. I take that for sure. I enjoy not being bound by weekly lockouts for raiding schedules etc. I can be way more flexible and spontaneous when i decide to sit down at my computer and start up wow. Thats the biggest reason for me

  3. I think it's worth mentioning that eventually ALL content can be done solo. You may have to wait a year or two, but most raids in WoW are solo-able. The ones that tentatively aren't are those from the previous expansion, and they can be done if your gear is good enough. So, although you may not be able to solo current stuff, you will eventually get to see it – and LFR and soon the bot-LFG will let people have access to the experience of that content pretty close to everyone else without having to interact with a group THAT much. You may have to wait to get certain appearances, but you will eventually get them.

  4. I think Delves are going to end up similar to Horrific Visions, but with different goals and gimmicks in place of insanity and corruption resistance.
Similarly I think there's going to be a huge disparity on which classes are 'better' at delves than others. I would assume classes that are notoriously good at solo content (tanks, hunters, warlocks, DH) will be clearing the hardest difficulties right away.

  5. The harder you make solo content, the more a solo player doesn't want to do play it. Because at the point, it will "no longer be solo." Normal heroic dungeon gear is crap. So upping the gear level to mythic is more then okay. Again solo means solo for a reason. (For people who whine how they worked hard for their thing, and how it's not fair to them to give solo players an easy way to get mildly good gear. Big middle finger mate. Who gives a flying rats butt. The only game that got solo content right is ESO ,That i know of… "elder scrolls online" I would love to see wow take a lesson from that game. (There will always be group content in wow that a solo player will refuse to do… for days. But as for solo content in general, there is barely any that would give us incentive to stay."

  6. I'm so disatached from this conversation, I CBA big time lmao

Just do my 4 +18-20 for the week, and Heroic raid, both not mandatory AT ALL, and never think about it.

If you care that much about solo content, maybe git gud? Be friendly and find a group/guild?
    (Not saying sike)

  7. You just described me–solo player who can't raid or do much group content anymore due to life reasons. I also used to do a lot of PVP, including a lot of 2v2 and 3v3 arenas. Solo players aren't necessarily garbage players.

  8. I think the best solution would to have delves and M+ share a loot table. Each avenue of content can have special or unique items but only in essence of flare rather than power.

This almost immediately removes the “necessity” for people to complete all 3 sections of the vault unless they desire to maximize their chances at specific drops in it. Which at that point is entirely a personal choice but wont be required.

It keeps raiders happy with their own unique set of items, it makes it feel like an actual level of alternative content to achieve the same or similar goals rather than having to do the extra content.

I.e. instead of being like “I need to kill Volcoross for my BIS neck, I need to farm Everbloom for my BIS ring, and now I need to also farm this delve for my BIS trinket” it would make it simply “I need to kill volcoross for my neck and now I can do either M+ or I can do a delve if I’m not feeling people tonight to farm for my BIS ring or trinkets”

I think another solution would be to make the vault slots more dynamic. I.e. if I really love M+ and we keep the current trend, slot one is 2 runs, slot 2 is 4 runs and slot 3 is 8 runs, let’s make the other 3 soon to be delve slots also fillable by M+. So slot 4 is now 12 runs, slot 5 is 16 runs and 6 is 20 runs. The same should then apply for Delves. If I want to just do delves to fill out all 6 slots then I’ll be running 20 delves for the week. This assumes delves should have a similar time commitment per run as M+ as well as similar difficulty scaler proportionate to the gear rewards.

  9. Disagree. Just because a group of people feel “obligated“ doesn’t mean the entire community should not get nice things. Maybe people should do the things they enjoy in the game not what they feel like they have to do. It’s a game not a job. If the vault had 25 rows, would you really feel like you had to do them all?

Delves should absolutely should be able to be failed and should have difficulty equal to the level of gear they reward. Simple.

They already said the chest with the best gear required keys to open. You can only get a limited number of keys per week. There’s your lockout.

  10. I think the simplest solution is to remove Delves from the Vault. You still can get the Heroic gear once a week or whatever, but there's no point spamming it to fill slots. OR make it so only 1 Delve counts for the Vault slot.

  11. To be honest the only reason I would do a delve is to unlock the story cinematics that blizz is so fond of gating. I don't raid ,I don't pvp or run dungeons unless I can solo it ,so this will be a good tool for me so I can actually see content I wouldn't otherwise see as I'm just into open world game play.

  12. The idea of avoiding things because they're "mandatory" limits design and is why outdoor and solo players have nothing to do right now. If someone raider decides he HAS to delves for gear boohoo. It's no different than raiders "having" to do m+.

  13. why would delves be necessary if the best heroic level rewards were from vault? you can only take one item, raid or dungeon or delve. Maybe if delves are easier in the first couple weeks than heroic raid or mplus for some people or their raid/dungeon group takes a break they might want to do it to improve their vault options? Sounds perfectly fine to me. No one feels obligated to to pvp to fill out the vault now, why would delves be so different?

  14. I would disagree that delves are primarily intended for the solo players who aren't interested in m+ or raid. As a fairly high-end raider I'm super excited for delves because after grinding m+ and raid for gear, I kinda want to just have fun with a few people and kill some mobs without the threat of depleting or wiping over and over again. I think in general they are intended to be a super low barrier to entry form of content that you don't have to commit a ton of time to or gather an organized group for, and they also allow people who really don't want to do larger group content to get fairly well geared over the course of a patch. Even though I do literally 40+ m+ runs and day raid the first week of a season, I would be happy to do 10-20 delves throughout the week to wind down.

  15. I'm a solo player who loves the game, but I've always been limited by big groups because it's hard for me to commit time because I'm employed and married. And I judged hard about my gear but not given the chance or am extremely judged by selfish groups for the fear of God that I might make a mistake. I'm excited for a single player possible may be able to gear up.

  16. LFR got me introduced to raiding and comfortable to try and find a guild I can start raiding with. Those who are scared of raiding should try LFR and consider joining raid night. Just give it a try! It won't hurt you! 😝

  17. They already said that Delves will have multiple difficulties and will reward up to at least end of heroic raid loot. So let's maybe see what the higher difficulty Delves look like first?

  18. 20:35 if you buy the same guitar as one of mine, but you never played, you paid the same as me as well, and you could learn how to play it, doesn't mean buying the guitar should "unlock" being able to play it instantly. I don't get this mentality of wanting to throw money at it and make it happen, imagine buying Baldurs Gate 3 and complaining that the game didn't finish itself for you or that you get "locked" out of content because you refuse to do an evil run etc. That there is stuff that not everyone can experience is good, there is a difference between climbing a mountain and having someone drive you to the summit. edit: and I say this as someone who does not raid

  19. Look at it this way. If you do high end M+ or HC raiding then delves are purely cosmetic for you.
If you ONLY play open world then Delves would be your big endorphin shagging moment once a week in the vault plus something “more interesting” to do when you are out and about.
Arguing that delve gear will “force you” to do content you don’t want to is like arguing Superblooms/seeds force that on you since you can get LFR/Normal Amirdrassil level loot.
