  1. In the end I wasn’t able to attend the premiere so I thought I’d share my final thoughts on the top 20 here.

    Oh yeah, spoilers up ahead if you haven’t watched the video yet.

    20th: Bloodbath really got a seizable boost compared to the hunters choice and honestly I agree. This is the best example of just taking a monster and making it mental and one of those fights people still talk about years later.

    19th: Nergigante is a nother placement I agree with. Yes, yes I started with World( kind of) and Nergigante was just one of the coolest things in that game. A challenging fight, a cool design, awesome gear. When I think of the baseline for a great flagship I think of Nergigante.

    18th: Dalamadur is obviously awesome. A giant snake that summons meteors? I mean come on. It‘s cool. I’m not denying that. However, I’d personally place it a good bit lower. The vibes are immaculate but once you get over „mountain sized dragon snake“ the fight itself is a little lacking and if I’m gonna be perfectly honest, I don’t like the design that much. I still like Dalamadur, how could I not, but definitely not THAT much.

    17th: I was on vacation while this poll aired so what I couldn’t say then I’ll say now. I… don’t like Astalos that much. It’s not even like I can point out any objective flaws. Astalos is awesome! I should love it and trust me, I want to. But I just don’t enjoy the fight, and while the design is cool it doesn’t speak to me as much as it does for a lot of others. The theme is one of the first I knew by heart though so it will always have a special place in my…well heart for that.

    16th: Raging Brachy had it all. A excellent theme, an immaculate fight and a design that takes the regular even further. If I could just find it‘s theme on Spotify everything would be perfect. This is a totally valid placement in my eyes.

    15th: Glavenus felt like one of my biggest rivals in GU and I love the fight. This is just a monster where everything sort of works. I’d personally place it a little lower but I can definitely see where people are coming from.

    14th: I’m gonna say it. This is to low. Namielle has possibly the best design in the series and it’s icon looks just as great( hey, Jock Package). It then uses zed design wonderfully in it‘s fight combining two elements in a beautiful manner. I’d personally place it into the top 10 at least but this placement is still VERY good all things considered.

    13th: Abyssal is a 3rd gen, underwater only, Lagiacrus with an amazing color scheme. If you gave the regular 5 stars( which I did) I don’t see why you wouldn’t give this one the same rating.

    12th: Gog has a whole saying around it. You know this monster is important and it’s one of the better huge monster fights out there. With that being said I feel similar about it than Dalamadur. I look at it say „wow that’s cool, I really like it“ and then I walk away and think about an imaginary Legiana Devient for the rest of the day. I like it but on a pretty surface level. But I still like it. Very much.

    11th: Bazel is a solid 4 star for me. I like the fight and gear and theme but I don’t really have any personal attachment to it. I’d place this one a good bit lower.

    10th: I love Espinas. It isn’t in my top 10 but I still love it. As a Flagship it may be a little out dated but as a fight? This thing in it‘s regular form can cart me in end game gear… and I can have fun while being carted. One of the best experiences Sunbreak has to offer and (maybe) a herald of things to come. This has nothing to with Espinas but please give me Disufiroa so it can have tea with Banboro. Ahh… anyway. A deserved placement in my books.

    9th: Chaotic is a conceptual masterpiece. It‘s the Magala trio member I have the least personal connection to but does that even matter if it’s this awesome? If the fight is this good? They didn’t have to give it it’s own theme but they did and it’s perfect. For what this monster is trying to achieve it IS perfect and while I think 9th is a little high who am I to argue with it?

    8th: I like Valstrax. I like the fight. I like the gear. I ADORE the theme. It’s probably my favorite piece of Monster Hunter music. You can say that’s basic, you can say it’s overrated but the point still stands. This was the track that got me into monster hunter and for that alone I can accept it’s placement here.

    7th: Lagiacrus is an interesting case for me because while I don’t personally consider it in my top favorites it is possibly the monster I respect the most. There’s a reason so many people started with Tri. I said it before but Lagiacrus isn’t just the flagship of one game. It’s the flagship of a generation. The flagship of the leviathans and of course, the flagship of underwater combat. I wouldn’t put it my top ten but I believe it deserves that place wholeheartedly.

    6th: Of course Fatalis was gonna make it. Iceborne left such an impression on people and contrary to Alatreon there wasn’t any controversy surrounding it besides the „to hard“ allegations. I didn’t expect Fatalis to make it that far on the hunters choice where you had to vote for your favorite but it did. It made it very far. And this poll is no different. It did even better than before. And I can understand why.

    5th: This was possibly my biggest suprise out of the top 20. I did not realize just how popular Malzeno was but here we are. I’d personally disagree with it’s placement though. For me Malzeno is a 4 star monster. It does a lot of things above average but I don’t consider it to be absolutely exceptional. I guess I’m in the minority though. If nothing else I’m still happy for it. The newest flagship making it this far is nice to see.

    4th: This is the monster I was rooting for. I predicted Primordial would take the cake but my heart wanted the psycho mantis to beat it. If my favorite monsters couldn’t win a nother one of my favorite would do. And she came really close! No, Ahtal ka didn’t win but I’m still really proud of her. 4th place for the Queen of 4th gen.

    3rd: I have a lot of fun memories with Gore and I love the design but 3rd feels a little high to me. In a vacuum my order goes Shagaru, Chaotic and Gore. However, I still love Gore and it’s placement makes perfect sense. It’s one of the most popular monsters and this poll was no different.

    2nd: This one makes me so happy. Shagaru is my personal 2nd favorite monster so yeah, I fully agree with it’s placement here. It beating Gore also just feels right to me. Hey, if my second favorite monster is number two surly my favorite won, right?

    1st: When 4th Gen was coming to a close and I was thinking of what monsters might do well in 5th gen I thought of Bazel, I thought of Nergi, but I stopped at Primordial. I was sure it would do well at the very least. Then the poll came. 90 percent 5 star!? I knew it was popular, but not this popular. The thing is though. I can’t really disagree. Yes, in a perfect world Legiana would have won but the newest monster winning? You could argue it’s recency bias but, at the very least, a big part of it just shows the Monster Hunter teams consistency and improvement. Notice how there’s only one 1st gen monster in the top 20? But then you look at 5th gen and there’s 6 of them. This franchise is truly always improving and Primordial is a shining example of that.

    All in all I’m very happy with this top 20. I wish I could have been there for the reveal but seeing everyone so excited after the fact was great too. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your day.

  7. Honestly it was so fire to see the community talk about the monsters and why they liked or disliked them everyday.

    Also these polls were the prefect excuse for me to fight all 228 monsters. While they were going on, I would fight the monster of the day and then vote which was so much fun.

    Hopefully Connor can doing this again in another 10 years for the next anniversary lol.

  10. This has been amazing to participate in and as a love letter to the series, given how much effort has been put into these polls. Now on to the main event: overall not a lot of surprises on placements early on until you get to the later half of the list. I am happy my boy primordial took number one it is sad to see though Alatreon and Nergigante being lower on the list but I can fully understand why. Until then I cannot wait for Austin's retier list of iceborne❤

Just Remember Japan and other Countries Hard Carry Yain kut Ku and Keizu in the Original Poll But This Rerun does have it best part Im jusy Glad that my Favroite Monster (That Isn't A Variations My Favroite Subspecies Flaming Epinas and Favroite Monster of All Time for Me Risen Shagaru Magala All Got Rank Higher sadly the Metal Raths got Rank Lower as my favorite Rare Species but im not going Fuss about that it a Amazing Poll non the less.

Absolutely loved following this project, I'm a little sad I never got some of my comments of some of my absolute favourite monsters like Seregios, Nerscyla, Agnaktor, gore magala and Tigrex but I'm so happy to have been a small part of this project and great seeing everyone else's thoughts aswell

  26. I would love to see the demographics for these results as well, I know the channel's demographics wouldn't be 100% accurate but It'd still be interesting to see. Like are these results mostly an NA represented mindset?
