In case you hadn’t heard, a trailer for a Minecraft movie adaptation dropped recently, and the internet is kind of mad about it. Rightly so in my opinion. I do like to give these films the benefit of the doubt, but you really can’t argue with the blatantly awful vibe this teaser trailer gives off. I’d love to be proven wrong, but that seems pretty slim chance here. If you have a solid argument for why you think this trailer or movie will be good I’m all ears because it’s actually gotten me depressed with how bad this looks in my eyes. So… enjoy my pain I guess?

sonic, pokemon, mario are japanese games, with a long history of anime adaptation, (dosn't count for mario) minecraft is a western Game, produced by Holywood. that may sound like a conspiracy theary, but when you sort all game adaptations by country of origin, you'll see that, Western productions, just can't figure out how to respect video games

I think a live action minecraft movie would be cooler, if it wasn’t just 5 people walking around some props in a green screen room. I just think the lighting on the characters doesn’t feel right for this sort of bright and vibrant dimension. Only a little white light is reflected onto the characters, but yet the sun is extremely vibrant and yellow-ish. What I would think would be cool if they did an into the spider verse type style with everything, like if the main characters slowly become more and more blocky and minecraft-y. I don’t know, but I also think an animated version would be cooler, again, like the spider verse movie. Going back to the live action trailer, either they could do 2 things with Steve. Either just not cast Black to play the role, or atleast make him look similar to Steve in the game. All they did was slap a blue shirt on him and told him to play Steve from Minecraft. 🥶
The sheep looks like somthing out of an old creepypasta
I honestly feel the games' lack of story could've been the movies' greatest strength. It could have been a quiet, artsy, contemplative film – just one man trying to survive in the wilderness. Newberry Medal-type stuff. But the producers blew it.
Fortnite would have worked better as a live action movie over Minecraft

– The creepers despite being fuzzy or furry, are the most accurate renditions

The sheep reminds me of the original trailer for the sonic movie.
The game actually has its own built in lore. The ancient builders and what the heck happened. I wish that was the plot of the movie.
Everything except the live action people looks great. Whereas everything in the Sonic 3 trailer looks great.
The movie clearly had a 3 day schedule slip.
If they wanted it to be realistic with real people in minecraft…it took Dream one year to figure out how to make real people inside minecraft and interact with the game. Do a green screen, slap on some shades, and just do that. You had *10 years*.
This shouldn’t really come as a complete surprise considering which company is making it. Warner Bros. has been cancelling films left and right. It’s no wonder this survived the cracks when the CEO is out of touch.

Why didn't they make the real world live action and the minecraft world fully animated? And make everything in the minecraft world look less like…that.

You know, I'm just so very grateful Nintendo is very protective of its IP and their images. At least their understand what their talking about.
They could've shown that they did their research/played the game by having Jason Momoa say 'Aw man' when the Creeper was behind him. Sure, it's an old meme, but it's a big Minecraft meme that even the casual player (if even) knows.
They really did just look up what's popular and what the characters are in that IP.
Plus, the girl saying 'he's such a toolbag' to Steve, that made me already dislike that character. I'm not someone who plays Minecraft often (years ago by between each time I open up the game), but that felt disrespectful to the character of Steve. And I think they says A LOT about who wrote this.

i think my biggest fear is that the conflict will be a human problem (conflict), like problem that isn’t related to minecraft at all. like in toy story its focused on the toys and their toy problems like being forgotten or not played with, and this film looks like it’ll be some external real world conflict rather than a minecraft problem like them being misfits then learning who they are or some rubbish like that rather than like idk the overworld blowing up or sumthin
Why are the piglins and nether mobs the main villians? It's obviously meant to be zombies, skeletons and creepers.
