I could see DoD wanting the ability to get 100+ tons of “supplies” to anywhere on the planet in less than an hour. Yes, it would have humanitarian uses, but it would be much more useful in supporting emergency remote ops in “difficult” regions. It would also send quite a message to the other side when massive rockets start dropping from the sky like a scene out of “War of the Worlds.”

Huge problem on this military program is, after land a starship, without booster, ON EARTH, in a place that theres no towers etc… how to get it back to orbit? WIll birds help?
Starship for the military… No issues except on one condition… If they use it to deploy forces, they MUST be called Sarship Troopers. Non negotiable

The military interested in Startship fast point to point troops delivery was few years ago when SpaceX was unsuccessful testing Startship "only" to reach orbit and back landing. So, it's an old news.
When SpaceX realised the Startship wasn't enough to accomplish the objective started developing a complete and complex system using a booster to reach orbit and a sofisticated tower for launch and capture a landing booster and Startship (still to be demonstrated).
So, in conclusion what Felix is announcing and not being clear is bad for me.

I'm looking forward to dramatic accomplishments! I know all this detail stuff is important….it's taking care of the things we learned by blowing stuff up, but I'm not a weeds guy. It will be great to see the whole assembly go up, and come back down intact! …and then, the next thing that will get me going is a lunar tour, and then, LANDING on the moon, THEN>>>>>>. MARS!!!!! The least amount of government intervention in SpaceX is a must. Already FAA, Environmentl agency, NASA, already have some control. Government control is a destroyer American progress.
Military Airlift Command contracted with Flying Tiger to move troops to and from Japan. I don't see contracting with Space X to be much different.
