The Many Identities of Istaroth (Genshin Theory and Speculation)

Istaroth, also known as the God of Time, is quite a mysterious character in Genshin Impact. Hints regarding her can be found all over Teyvat, from the mountains of Mondstadt to the depths of Enkanomiya. In this video, I go over my thoughts about her, and why I think she could have eyes everywhere.

  1. I have been trying to read into ars goetia and the other Christian/Jewish texts which mention the demons like Astaroth, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Baal, Morax etc.
Interesting things I have noticed so far,
Baal is the archon who is a king of hell in goetia. The others, Morax, Barbatos, Buer, Focalors all are either Dukes, princes or presidents, which begs the question is it just a coincidence or Raiden is actually very important.
Interestingly enough, Ei's demon name Beelzebul is not mentioned in ars goetia, rather it seems as though it's just another name of Baal. However in other literatures such as the kabalah, Beelzebub (very similar to Beelzebul) is one of the three highest ranking demons alongside Astaroth and Lucifer.
These demons are used in the anime Black Clover as well. Where Astaroth is a devil that controls time, Lucifer can control gravity and Beelzebub can control space.
Back to Goetia, Paimon is a king of hell that is very loyal to Lucifer. So who is Lucifer in genshin impact, the traveller or the Primordial One?
I am also wondering if the Tsaritsa could have a demon name from one of the kings of hell in goetia, since she seems to have a very important role to play in the future. But I can be wrong. Who knows?
I am just mentioning this because it all is really interesting.

  2. No mention of Paimon?
She can technically "Freeze" time when you press the Paimon menu. All other being frozen motionless while her alone can do all sort of gestures.
She also has the ability to manipulate time as can be seen in the Paimon menu feature.

  3. I wish paimon would be related of the god of time because i notice the quotes of the sundial "Seeds of stories, brought by the wind and cultivated by time" seed of stories(the traveler), brought by the wind(anemo characters or possible paimon) and cultivated by time(paimon) this quotes was also mention by venti 2x in the event stories and zhongli mention that without paimon the stories of the traveler become quite monotonous(3.4 lantern rite quest) for me paimon is very sussy species and possible related of time(god of time) or the recorder

  4. Venti is so sus, that in his story, being a Small wind Spirit makes me wonder, How did he ascended instantly into Archonhood? That small spirit was barely prayed by the first Gunhildr

I'm not so sure he was that coincidentally, being a God takes even some divine Knowledge and …
Venti Is the only archon we know, that wasn't born as a divinity

Hypothesis: Venti knew what he was searching and it's hiding something important at that history

By example, how is it possible that an Archon (Decarabian) had a One Shot kill by a single arrow

  5. From recent leaks we have a strong hint of who is the voice that talked to the traveler at the end of inversion of genesis.

  6. I like how Zhongli is your persona since he basically does know everything since he’s been around the longest. The only thing he doesn’t know is possibly what the fatui has purposely been hiding among the public.

  7. love the lore about the god of time

    SPOILER LEAKS!!! LOOK AWAY!!!
this info just dropped before the video debut here

    but its about
8 supreme witches that alice will talk about in the windblume event

Istaroth may not be the voice that speaks to the traveler during wanderers quest it may be nicole one of the 8 witches of teyvat or something her code name is N or just nicole 'the guide who will never get lost'

  8. first time hearing a theory that does not make Istaroth a moon sister herself, I do wonder why is it that istaroth was the only one to answer to the people of Enka, and why she appears to be the only one heavily still active on modern teyvat. I also feel there is a special meaning behind Cecilias, they look stragelly similar to triquetras and if you compare the petals, pretty similar to what is depicted on mora and locked domains. Also, I don't think we were ever told why is it that Raiden put the visions on the statue of what we believe is Istaroth? I wonder if that had any special meaning….

  9. When talking about time, Venti's trailer description will always stuck in my mind: "Full of Mystery. Born from the branches of time. A history of Glory and sorrow. And witness to the divine"

  10. You can really see the amount of dedication, research and layers in this video! Congratulations on the work ✨✨ (But I guess I'll have to rewatch it because I'm 13 minutes in and there are so many references that I'm getting confused

  11. and if Venti were to be a part of Istaroth, or their network, and Istaroth is a shade of the Primordial, not the current seat it would explain Ventis dislike for Celestia. Archons are described as having a throne in Celestia, but Venti mentions having to be invited (I would not go even if I was invited). If he were a Part of Istaroth that would explain his difference from the other Archons who don't need this invitation.
Also Istaroth talking to the traveller is something I doubt. She's been shown to be an observer so far, and only few parts of herself actually interact with the world. I personally believe the voice could be Monas Teacher, who is a member of the Hexenzirkel and rival of Alice.

  12. Now can you go in depth about zhongli? Who he really is?Some say he is one of the descender and some say he one of the dragon lord that sign a contract after being defeated by the primordial…

  13. I really enjoyed the theory! I love like 30min + deepdives into theories

With all honesty some I thought were a stretch but thats what theories are about (one of the many)

I just did a whole taking care of my body lmao

    Anyway great video!!!

  14. Ok so my crack theory built upon this one : do we even know how many seelies were there? (Honestly don't know if it is ever mentioned anywhere) but what if there were let's say a thousand (as in winds of time) with different levels of power? What if Ishtaroth quite literally broke themselves into a thousand pieces which turned into this relatively powerful but low-numbered race? And all of them are their instances.

  15. I think people over think Child line about Columbina, this should be read literally.
She probably is perfectly innocent (and more frightening), making her bad match for traveler given his moral compas.

  16. Great video! I love the smallest details you've noticed across teyvat in the designs linked to istaroth. We know hexenzirkel is getting introduced soon so I was wondering if the voice might be mona's master or albedo's creator, both of whom belong to the zirkel

  17. It's fascinating to me how even though the lore theories community all have the same pool of information to draw form they almost always draw different conclusions from it

Whether that's you, ashikai, aster, island, or any number of other theorist there's always a different angle taken.

  18. I wish someone could explain why so many people have this weird idea that the past didn't change when the game repeatedly says that the past was changed. It's not just that there's no evidence for the position and plenty against but that the people who hold this view can't explain WHY they even began to think this theory might be true. We're told the past changed by every NPC to comment on it and we have the physical evidence.

  19. I don't think any of the real world mythology works but if you are going to use it then at least I think you should make sure the connections are real. For example why do people keep saying the star of Ishtar (8 points) is the same as the star used by Deshret (10 points)? 8 is not 10. Is the idea that it's just a star any star at all is good enough? Ashikae made this mistake and I feel people just repeated it.

  20. This theory feels like you saw that Venti claims to be a wind spirit of the thousand winds and then though what if a bunch of other people are too? That's kind of cool but it feels like it would be better if you went full monty on it and said that everyone in Teyvat is really Istaroth, or at least everyone who's a god or has a Vision. The formula you use to determine if someone is a piece of Istaroth seems like you could force a "yes" with any NPC. I mean "connected with a flower" alone probably describes every character in the game. let's see. Razor. He's connected to the Wolf's hook so – boom – he's Istaroth. Nahida – she's a plant so – boom – she's Istaroth. Diluc? He grows plants for a living – Istaroth. Everyone is Istaroth. It's a bold idea. But if you only say that nearly everyone powerful who is female is Istaroth I don't think it works well. You'd have to justify the cherry picking.
