I absolutely love the Riddick series and the lore behind them. Pitch Black and this movie are more like the Alien movies, while Chronicles is more Warhammer/ Dune-esque. Humanity expanded so far across the galaxy to the point where the cultures become isolated enough that they form vastly different visions of the future, all in one universe.
