The lesson here is that history is not static. No coincidence that the Bowling Green statue gets a mention 2:25. The understanding of Geo III now is entirely different. He wasn’t ‘mad.’ Unfortunately the title here perpetuates this propaganda.
The American view of Geo III is today largely still based on wartime propaganda and the writings of the dandy Jefferson.
“I love artillery…” such a merican thing to say. French guns of course, but they don’t tell that part.
Check out Andrew Robert’s new bio.
Gorgeous carriage was the Air Force one of its time it was meant to be bulky heavy strong and uncomfortable because the king should never allow himself to become comfortable with the state of his kingdom
Self enthused student of history. I love this stuff. Those who don't learn from history… bla, bla, bla 🤙
America’s first Opp
Let's be clear he was never king of America. America is a set of continents. He ruled some colonies. A small fraction of what the United States became. The U.S.A. isn't only place that refers to themselves as American. It became short hand for the U.S. simply for being in the title but a lot of Central and Southern Americans do get upset and for a good reason because they are Americans living in America just not the United States part.
Royals, in this current era, are basically ridiculous. They are not special at all, on the contrary, they should all be abolished.

Why aren't the researchers wearing gloves to protect the documents? Infuriating to see from an archivist point of view.
And exactly how do I get the Royal Liberian position?
Syphilis?
Surprised they didn't have to wear gloves!
Good evening everyone
I had no idea Rodney Dangerfield was related to English royalty.
If it was not porphyria(which can make a sufferer go crazy)then explain how it is several of his descendants were diagnosed with this & it was believed a few of his ancestors were also afflicted with it!
We beat King George. It's my pride and glory against British "subjects". They hate us.
Profound indeed. I saw the movie several times and had somewhat of a loyal and highly inquisitive nature that has endured throughout my later life. Thank you with the highest esteem for this presentation & moreover, thank you dear Elizabeth II for making these archives available. Now I can finally acquire much knowledge before I pass. Sincerely I remain, Sentebey at 80 years old in USA.
How sad it is for idiots to tear down HISTORICAL STATUES. It’s DISGUSTING!😡
He lost the greatest colony in the world by peasant farmers no less and began the downfall of Imperial Britain and should be regarded as nothing more than a despot theres no redeeming quality or contributions that can underwrite the crimes this family and their ancestors perpetrated against their subjects and protectorates from the Caribbean to India to Africa the blood of 10's of millions of people are on their hands.
OMG…why aren’t they wearing gloves?!

Mark Twain said something to the effect that when the mob went one way a wise man heads in the other direction. My direct ancestors (a step below the famous but rubbing shoulders on occasion) were very active loyalist with roots going back to 1638 (Queen Anne). Scared the bejesus out of the old Dutch traitors & recent New England Salem 'Saints' in upstate NY province (in Stillwater, essentially founded by my ancestors after the French defeat in 1763) but were ultimately defeated by our revolting cousins thanks only to the intervention of the French we had all struggled against desperately for the last 200 years and a traitorous radical 'wig' party in London much like the 'Dems' of DC of today ! It was the ultimate betrayal of unity in the Anglo World at the time !
180,000 other Colonials, long & short bred, true patriots and tame conservatives, also left for other parts of the common Empire and flourished while Thomas Jefferson (a very wise man) tamed and mythologized the American creation myth
God save Good King George, all of his descendants and may his enemies be forever confounded.
Canadian Loyalist – a rare dying breed well worthy of conservation.
Always wanted to learn more about king George the 3rd, this is an excellent documentary 👍
This is the man who was hauling slaves to the colonies throughout his rain. Read the lost paragraph of the declaration of independence.
He seems like a nice guy, who tried his best. Too bad that crooked politicians ruined his plans.
On a funny note, just think king George III, cut the cheese in that Royal carriage! And that tradition has continued until today! I can see queen Charlotte just gasping for air wanting out!
Ya know if that stuck up pig would have just given the colonies home rule like they asked for. Then give them representation in parliament.
America would still be apart of the empire and the Anglo Empire would still exist today.
I never realized just how pathetic still having a monarchy was until I heard and saw the guy calling that old lady your majesty. Especially when the king a couple hundred years ago was aware of its absurdity.
genetic disease
Interesting video. Well done. But isn't Queen Charlotte of German birth? Sounds like she's being narrated with a French accent.
this in insane
WHY are they not wearing white gloves while handling his papers??
I feel like the United States' disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan was payback for our taking a dump all over KG3. When you think about it, the reasons for the taxes waged against us was due to a costly war, which was meant to protect us. If he had taxed people on the mainland to pay for the French and Indian War, then they would have revolted, so he was kind of damned either way. And the US was lucky that the French intervened with their troops and especially with their Navy, because we didn't even have a navy! People here try and make it all about George Washington, no doubt he was courageous and had brass balls, but he did not have the military prowess and tactical precision of the British Generals, we were seriously up a creek without a paddle, until those Frenchies came and saved the day. Honestly, were it not for the French, we would still be part of England today.
the volume of the commercials is three times that of the program
George Washington?
Oh, how l would enjoy a year perusing the the Round Tower…. 📖
Could George have had a UTI
The victors write the propaganda. See above.
Thomas Paine – alive at the time, unlike you or me, or any of the monarchy worshipers above, described George's character as "that of a sottish, stupid, stubborn, worthless, brutish man…" But I guess whoever creates the propaganda gets to paint the subject any way they like…
