While the spectacular gameplay is the main draw of Mega Crit’s Slay the Spire, the game does have lore that’s hidden in the game’s relic descriptions and map events which hint at the larger overall story of the game. Let’s go through all that information and piece it all together so we can see it in full!
Thanks for watching!

Will you cover the Mea Culpa DLC for Blasphemous II on this channel? I would love to watch your overview of it!
The beta art of the colorless/Watcher card "Insight" further points to a connection between the Silent and the Nemesis.
What's with the shopkeeper tho? In act four one of his dialogues says "I used to be like you". Never seen anyone talk about it.
These are minor nitpicks in such a great video, but i thought it was worth pointing out that ranwid seems to have some sort of role, probably self-assigned, in which he studies certain relics in the spire, apart from just interacting with the player.
You did mention the colesseum event and being captured, so this is a completely meaningless nitpick, but mentioning the existence of slavery in specific is also fair to do imo, tho whether or not the slavers just work to capture people for the colesseum (since both the red and blue slaver and the taskmaster all show up in the colesseum event chain) or more is unclear.
2:00 You say the ancients have disappeared but in the same video chapter you being up Neow, who IS an Ancient. Also the book at 3:00 in the library is a work of fiction that references an actual book, all three library books are.
Good work on the video though, sorry if this sounds nitpick-y.
I had never paid attention to those events and wow this was so cool!!
500 hrs into this game, and I never thought of the lore. I thought the devs had stuffed as many references as they could in the awesome deck building game they made.
I’ve acc been waiting for this for years 🎉
Thanks for making a video! I've been finding everywhere explaining the lore of Slay The Spire, but nobody did do a proper video about it. Kudos to you!
That was great! Thanks for making it
I like seeing a made up story with the card art much like how people make story with yugioh card art. Cool editing and Nice video. thanks for this I've been itching to know more about the lore of StS
Cult of the Lamb soon?
I literally tried to search for this the other day answered my prayers great video earned a new sub
The library event references real books/webnovels. One is the Martian (adapted with Matt Damon) and another (the girl who controls insects) is Worm by Wildbow.
Best sts lore video I’ve seen
Love this game! Ive been getting my BUTT kicked as the watcher. I need to watch some vids to understand what im doing wrong as ive always heard shes broken. (Aside from infinite that i can never survive long enough to make work)
Man, I got 1000+ hours in StS and I had no idea about most of this. Thank you so much for making this video. I loved it, dude!
The keys are obviously linked to the ironclad, silent and defect, they have their colors and symbols. My theory is that they are some kind of vessel or symbol of their power, and since you can only get them after unlocking the watcher, and the watcher being the only character that can manifest cards from other characters without the prismatic shard, hinting that she can harness their power to help, this leads me to believe the watcher harnessed the power of the 3 other characters to survive and finally overpower the heart
When Slay the spire 2 comes out this video will probably get 1 million views.
the time eater and teh watcher actually have the same design on their coat, essentially confirming that the time eater used to be an ascetic like the watcher
Great job.
no way the champ is the colosseum guy i never got that
Oh, cool. I like this game a lot already, and I thought I'd never see you again after I watched your Hotline Miami videos.
