The Complete History Of The Long Dark | The Story So Far

In this video we will be delving deeper into the long dark open world survival game looking at the stories hidden deep beneath the surface, looking at the history of Great Bear Island. This video looks at the stories within the survival mode, the wintermute mode and the tales from the Far Territory dlc.

As such there will be moments of the history that are still left unclear for exact dates but I have placed them based on my own opinion and have clarified this in the video in the effort of conveying the story of the long dark to you.

  1. I already commented, just because I like to help the metrics if I think a channel deserves it. But I wanted also to say that I wish this game were more popular, if only so the effort you clearly put into this well researched lengthy video was rewarded in a high view count.

Commenting on the story itself. There is something about a pre apocalypse decline setting that then has an actual apocalypse that I find fascinating. Mad max is like this as well, the first one from the 70s is just a declined civilization. It’s nearly lawless anarchy – nearly – but not because the world ended. But because… things just are falling apart naturally. Then nukes fall between the first and second film and the second film is post apocalypse.

I say pre apocalypse instead of normal, because in these settings you can just feel the end is in the air. Things are broken. Machines, Society, institutional structures. It’s only a matter of time, and then it happens – the event that tips the fragile tower

  2. I always have a hard time believing the the population amount of Milton. It's currently like 25 houses, with most of them being a single bed room so max 2 people. How could the town ever had a thousand people without us seeing empty field where houses used too be😅. It has been bugging my for some time nog while surviving in Milton.
