As the David series progresses, the life of David is providing us with a wealth of wisdom. Because God thought Saul was unfit to rule, Samuel was sent to find David, the shepherd God had selected. Out of jealousy, Saul attempted to assassinate David multiple times, but God protected David every single time.
David runs away and finds himself living alone in a cave somewhere. Many of us live in isolation, just like David did. Even in large groups, we nevertheless feel very much alone. God is telling us that He is our shepherd, just as He told David. God desires to take us from this region of loneliness and gloom and lead us to the quiet waters.
The Church should be the last place where loneliness should exist because the Church is a family, and that is why God brings us together. We, the Church display the beauty of the Lord by being loving, caring, and there for one another.
