Colonel James Gardiner (1688-1745), a soldier whose career began in the bloody campaigns of Marlborough, and ended within sight of his own home at Prestonpans.

Part of the Battle of Prestonpans Museum’s “Beyond the Battle” project, introducing the stories of those who lived and worked around the battlefield in 1745.

  1. Fascinating review. Unknowingly passed by the cairn in 2019 on the train to London. Sadly, was sitting on the wrong side of the train. Thanks for this review. I hope to redress my train trip by visiting when I drive through Scotland, perhaps even this year (I live in Australia, so I'm not sure when I'm coming back).
