The Latest on Damian Lillard Trade Talks | LIVE at 9 am | The Dan LeBatard Show w/ Stugotz

Weโ€™re not keeping our third eye open, but we ARE keeping one eye open on the reporting surrounding a potential Damian Lillard trade to Miami. Why is there such a difference between Wojโ€™s reporting and everyone elseโ€™s? The crew analyzes what the best return would be for a small-market team like Portland if they were to trade Dame. Should they try to get the best players back or load up on future assets? Plus, Adam Wainwright makes us sad and Mike Ryan accuses the Braves of cheating.

  1. Im tired of Hearing Dame was "LOYAL" to Portland….As if they didnt pay him MAX deal after MAX deal. People acting like he was taking team friendly discounts Like Klay or Draymond did in the past. Dame got EVERY DOLLAR he could

  2. I don't see the contradiction in what Woj and others at ESPN and Shams and others outside ESPN are saying. Portland has no use for Tyler Herro because of some combination of his contract plus already having Simons, Sharpe and Scoot and don't seem to have much interest in a pure cap relief package centered around Lowry. What this means is that Miami is either going to involve another team(s) to make it work or someone else will swoop in and take Lillard and believe that he wouldn't actually sit out. I don't see how those two things are in contradiction.

  3. Why is OKC catching all these strays?!?! The money is green baby. These fuckin mega millionaires can live whereever they want especially these supermax players (which are the players we are actually talking about). Are you telling me if a OKC player is on a $250 million contract that he can't have a house in Miami, LA, whatever and a private jet on retainer. PLEASE! Get out of here.

  4. Did David Samson really say Portland rather keep Dame? The whole narrative has been that they donโ€™t want Tyler Herro back because heโ€™s a guard and it doesnโ€™t mesh with what they have. Well Dame is set to be 33 and also happens to play PG the position you just spent 3rd pick on another generational talent you were lucky to land in the draft. It makes no sense for Portland to want Dame when all the moves theyโ€™ve made have said the complete opposite.

  5. Lillard will be in Miami. The NBA, the media and the fans want it. They will just have to give up a lot of those "undrafted players" that were hyped up all playoffs. All that was advertisement of those players for a trade for the next team's "superstar". They are not "important" or "relevant", so they can play in Portland and disappear and nobody will even notice. But the "superstar" will get what he wants and they can put the Heat on every national game and only if they get Nurkic with Dame the Heat can possibly win the championship. Nurkic really could help (not stop) Jokic. Bam can't do it.

  6. Man… Imagine being a Cardinal fan and watching Wain-o unravel this entire year… ON TOP of the terrible underperformance of the rest of the pitching, the defense, etc. Tough to see him go out like this.

  7. I'm sorry as a blazers fan we really want to send dame to Miami but if the package sucks we need a 3 team deal or were shipping him to Brooklyn where he will play for. i don't want anything Miami has to offer

  8. Kudos to Samson, he is making adjustments when in a collective – quicker takes, pithy comments and holding back. He is still at his best direct to audience, one on one, but is learning to work in a group setting with so many opinions and personalities. He works quite well as the 3rd option in all honesty (like Bradley Beal in Phx now). Remember he came as the shot caller for so many years as an executive so it takes time to adapt to this type of setting. But he is improving which means he takes constructive criticism and continually works on getting better – even in his 50's.

  9. Why is mike comparing donte deal to gabe vincent? knicks have no need for a fringe starting pg why would he be valuable to them? with fournier getting moved soon they def need wing perimeter shooting

  10. Mike florio already exposed deflate gate as a sham. He even came on this show to speak of it. Spy gate is irrelevant due to every team except for the Patriots and Jets doing the same, just never getting caught up and penalized for it

  11. Mike is dead wrong about Brook's contract. Sure, the years are very high. They probably should have paid him a little more per year to get a 2 or 3-year deal but with the new TV deal coming which some places have speculated could be two times or three times with the NBA is getting. Now the salary cap is going to shoot up which means his 20 million a year is probably more like 15 million a year in today's salary cap. Also, I don't think the rockets are going to be competing the first 2 years of his contract anyway, so when they start competing, which would they hope to do in year three or four of his contract? He'll have a very appealing contract that can be traded

  12. The more you all make this in yo ESPN radio, the harder itโ€™s becoming to listen.

Itโ€™s like yโ€™all are auditioning to go back smh.

Please make the show great again

  13. Portland better recognize that Scoot Henderson is watching how they treat Dame in this moment and if they arenโ€™t competing he may not give them that third contract and trust theyโ€™ll do right by him either.

  14. Mike and all the people hating on the Dillion Brooks deal are too stuck on the $80 million figure. Think of it in relation to the full cap and how the cap will increase in the next several years. It won't be too long before the full mid level exception is $20 million. Listen to what Amin said….average salary in the NBA is ~$12 million.

  15. Damn man look at these numbers now that the show is coming to us earlier
Huh almost as if I said this very thing like yr an 1/2 ago. There timing was awful b4 trying to go up against mcafee

  16. StuGotz needs to be let go. Dude never wants to show up and when he does he is busy online, not listening and then just fakes it. I like him, but he checked out when they left ESPN big time. His goal was always to get a job hosting an ESPN show on TV, that goal is now dead and so is his desire to be there.

  17. So let me get the straight. You would give up multiple assets for a player that doesn't want to play For You..
Starting to make more sense What happened with the marlins.

  18. Hero is bad contract bc heat was better without him and bc hr injury prone and had one highlight postseason just like Duncan Robinson who is not nearly as good as ppl say almost to hero extent

    Reply
  19. Dillon is a better player than gabe, plays defense better was all team defense, gabe had a good playoff run and was trash in the finals, and maybe gabe donโ€™t have a good agent like brooks ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    Reply
  20. Gabe stats 9.4 2.1 2.5
Dillon stats 14.3 3.3 2.6 all defensive team, recently bias because gabe help take them to the finals but max Strus 63 million after that final performance

  21. Waiting for an better offer means forcing an top 75 all time 33 year old player to be among 19 year olds figuring out the game… might not be smart as that can be considered damaging trade value

  22. So I guess Stugots is just keeping his name and face attached to the show in hopes that the audience doesn't notice that he's not a part of the show anymore….. I see you Stu probably once a week now ( if that) and he hardly even talks when he's there.. it's kind of saddening because I'm almost convinced that him and Dan must have some type of inside turmoil..,.. I miss the old show where Stugots was a part of it
