My take on it is humanity wasn't worth saving. I mean if you seen the people theyve encountered, they aren't worth going all that trouble for to spread a potential cure. Prime example people like David and Kathleen. And even if a cure was made, how would they have the technology and manpower to give it to the whole world
Joel did the right thing , there's nothing wrong about it
The house that Ellie’s mum runs into looks like the same house from the second game with the tractor and the silos.
I just finished watching this episode. HBO you know how to make a grown man cry. I was mouth wide open through the entire episode.
I like that they added the line of him almost killing himself because he lost his daughter.
And now he's about to lose someone he loves again. And he just can't go through with that. So his decision to go bezerk has a bit more context.
Marlene was never right. If their cause was just, they would never have disbanded after losing Ellie. They were just a bunch of unserious Larpers, playing freedom fighters.. chasing a Pipe Dream.
Joel was the only person with a Brain, who was thinking about what is Best for Ellie and her future.. you know.. like a Parent.

Do you think they will deviate from the second games plot in season 2? They just confirmed it will be “vastly different.” Do you think they either don’t kill Joel at all or wait until season 3 or later to do so? I don’t see how you continue this show without him.
Just like in the game i hated the fact that Marlene got killed she was trying to save humanity I still like Joel but just hated that scene

I wasn't the most impressed with this representation of Ellie as the dialogue often came across as more whiny and annoying then Ellie was even in the game but I don't see for the life of me how they're going to do a season 2.😂 Like can we actually see this young girl being the hardcore killer Ellie is in the second game? I already thought the casting of Ellie was bad but me actually thinking of a second season makes me realize what an L they actually had on this one.
By far the best episode of the season! So many internal messages throughout the episode
a just hope they shot a scene with marlene and the surgeon (abby's father) a conversation about ellie's immunity and I'm waiting for that scene where ellie give the picture to joel together with sarah.
You know the way that they've been putting characters that look nothing like the characters in the game in this TV show…. I'm kind of surprised they didn't use a Brachiosaurus instead of a giraffe….

I feel like there’s still a lot of people the think marleen and the doctors are wrong because they assume the way they’ll get the cure is correct. I imagine irl they’d do anything to keep the only known immune person alive for tests or other things. It seems crazy to just kill someone with something worth more than all gold in the world.
While I enjoyed the show and played the game. I didn't enjoy how short this episode was and the ending felt like it needed more.

Anna's (Ashley Johnson) grunting sound from the very beginning sounds like Ellie to me, but given mother- daughter similarity, this can be explained.
The Firefly Doctors are not the brightest Doctors because all they would need to do is take some of Ellie's blood and make a Vaccine from that. So they wouldn't have to kill Ellie to give the Fungus immunity to the surviving Humans.
Im surprised only one person has mentioned the striking resemblance between Anna and Ellie. I didn’t know who Ashley was so i was thinking, wow they actually casted someone who looked just like Bella to play her mother. But now i realized they probably casted Bella because she looks exactly like Ashley.
