Ok so the Last Last Of Us Season One Episode is now out and throughout this video weāre gonna be breaking down episode 9, all the easter eggs, hidden details and also discussing that ending. First up though I wanna thank everyone for rocking with me the last 9 weeks and weāre sort of like Joel and Ellie a bit because Iād doom the entire human race just to get a thumbs up from you.
Anyway we start off the episode with a flashback and this features a major game cameo. Out in the woods we join a pregnant woman running and this is none other than Ashley Johnson. Ashley voiced Ellie in the game and here we catch her playing her mother. So far several big actors from the game have popped up including Tommyās voice actor as Perry, Troy Baker as James last week and Marleneās who shows up later on in this scene.
Ellies mother is called Anna and she was first mentioned in the last of us comic American Dreams.
This featured Ellie and Riley and in it we learned a little bit about Anna and what she did before the outbreak.
Anna worked as a nurse before the outbreak and we know that she and her lifelong friend Marlene survived together when everything went down worse than this channels views next week.
All that we learned from the backstroy was that she died within a day of giving birth to Ellie but here we see it fleshed out with her running to a farmhouse being chased by an infected person. We can see a big symbol for the fireflies denoting that this is a safehouse and you can also catch what Iām guessing is the Boston QZ in the background. As we know this was controlled by Fedra and though we donāt learn why Annaās out on her own like this it likely has something to do with the infected.

Enjoyed the series dude šš»
36:56 she holds the fingers she needs for guitar.
Part 2 is gonna span more than 2 more seasons, 4 or 5 years to cover between part 1 and part 2
At the beginning of the 1st 2 episodes both experts in the cold opening said this kind of outbreak there will be NO cure. Plus what parent would give up their child anyway. Joel was just doing what every parent would.
For a show that was so good , last episode was so ass , started off with promise then just went down hill , they could a spent the whole episode him
Fighting in the hospital, he breezed through the hospital so easily
Thank you
I think the music is what made that sequence at the hospital where Joel wants to take Ellie back really special. Watching the scenes unfold with that dark and eerie version of the soundtrack being put to the foreground made it almost surreal to watch. As if the whole season collapsed into these very moments. With that being said, I think the season would have needed a few more of these moments, there was some unused potential. It was still very good overall
Abby does appear in the episode, is the one running away during the massacre, you can recognize her hair
How did she go from being a baby in firefly custody to being a federa cadet then back to fireflies?
If you rewatch the beginning, when Elli is born they pan to her foot it looks like the infection coming out of her ankle. Is it a piece of cloth? Or the infection? I've looked and haven't seen any answer. Someone please answer! I need to know.
Only thing left out that I wish was in the show, is the Shiv.
You look more like Zach Braff, the more time passes.
Hold up. So they see Elle as one of them… then why did one make out with Tess when she was infected a few hours before but attach Elle in the mall and the museum when she was infected since birth?
š¤£š¤£š¤£ she got paid for allat she really was doin what's in her best interest she knows she finna get Jerome in it and all
Anna's safe house at the start had a lot of similarities to where Ellie ends up in Part 2. Even the old tractor sitting outside.
I think Marlene went to the mall a few hours after Ellie & Riley were bitten to pick up Riley (remember they were taking her to the Atlanta QZ later that same day). She then found Riley shot to death and Ellie bit but not yet turned.
The doctors were so full of themselves to go right to cutting into Ellieās skull and taking the cordyceps from her brain. I mean, jeez, couldnāt they have started small like by running some tests on her blood? They jumped right to killing her for the āgreater goodā.
As messed up as it sounds, Joel should've left no witnesses.
So the odds that the leader of the fireflies happens to be there for Ellie's birth and keep tabs on her and is the only person 14 years later to be in a position to create a cure then even find out Ellie was immune is a lot to take in
Love how cold Joel is killing Abby's dad, he doesn't even look at him, just a dissociated "he's in the way, ok, now he's gone, now one of you nurses unplug her and get her up."
Youāre crushing the content bro! Keep up the great work!
Who knows, Elle might still be able to help others survive. We donāt know if she could pass her immunity on to her children. Perhaps Joel saved her so she could become the āmother of us allā to Homo Cordyceps. Hopefully they wonāt be anything like the ecocideal Homo Sapiens.
this episode is when I stop watching The Last of Us; it's poorly conceived and lazily written. The giraffe (from the Calgary zoo) was the main high point.
I hope you do more series breakdowns!
you were like āheavy spoilers ahead, promise youāre not gonna get madā
and Iām āmeh, how bad can it beā
2 seconds later āFUUUUUCKā
She's not a believable Ellie 2 me š¤·āā
Don't let me distract you from the fact that there's currently no one in Bill's town. The town is full of supplies, foods, and electricity, and if I was Joel, I would plan to come back to that place since I know the gate's code and the area, plus I don't even need to work hard and spend times again building things (fences and stuff). š š¤·
Joel was right. F$%# humanity. Let everyone fend for themselves like they have been for the past 20 years. Not only was there a good chance the vaccine wouldn't work and if it did, the Fireflies could have used it for nefarious means… but people in general are horrible enough as it is without an apocalypse… imagine how the worst people you know now would be after 20 years with no society to keep them in check. No thank you. Plus… how many people would refuse the vaccine because they don't trust science? We've seen that play out during Covid.
The beautiful thing about the last of us is that there is no right or wrong. Morley, we have to sit in a very uncomfortable place, and ourselves decide what is OK. At the end of the day, Joe made his decision, and it will have consequences. I think the beauty of the last of us part two is the same, where there is no bad person or a good person. You will look at both of these two women and see all of the bad things they do. And you have to uncomfortably sit there and decide whoās āā side youāre on. In the end, you realize both of them are justified and that you understand the reasons for why they did what they did. Thatās just the beauty of the last of us and I absolutely love it!
If you care about the greater good, Eli's immunity makes her one of the most valuable individuals on earth.
Those who think Joel should have allowed them to perform Eli's procedure, one that had absolutely no guarantee of resulting in a cure, but would kill the only known immune at the time.
They did not understand the story of the goose that lays the golden eggs.
the fireflies are desperate for results and wanted to risk it all.
Joel's decision was selfish, but also the most logical under the circumstances.
the fireflies wouldn't take no for an answer and Joel's actions are the only thing that kept Eli (the golden goose) alive, which in turn gives her the chance to decide for herself in the future.
The only questionable thing he did was lie to Eli.
Love the godfather reference
