  1. Everything in this episode was amazing, slow paced, but amazing. EXCEPT TESS DEATH SCENE, WHY THE FUCK DID SHE HAVE TO LITERALLY KISS THAT FUCKING INFECTED. I mean, if infected don't recognize her as a threat because she's been infected, WHY DID THAT HORNY MF WENT IN FOR A KISS. AND WORST OF ALL, WHY DID SHE JUST ACCEPTED IT AND ALSO WENT FOR IT, SHE COULD HAVE PUSH HIM AWAY. Also, why did she wanted to use the lighter? There where literally lots of grenades on the floor, just use one of them. I'm watching the series with my parents, neither of them have played the game, so they probably don't even know that the series is based on a video game, both of them also agreed that the dead was absurdly dramatic and stupid, I really hope that they don't dramatize more scenes on the series, the game had scenes that were awesome because they tried to make them as unimportant as possible, including both Tess and Joel's death, both of them felt awesome because they weren't dramatic, it just was the death of two people on a post apocaliptic world.

  2. This second episode is what sold me on the show. The premiere was amazing, but this episode really proved that they can deliver for the whole season.

The new segments and dialogue mix perfectly with the word for word game dialogue. And the extra story in flashbacks about the outbreak have been AMAZING.

The change to Tess' death was perfect. Added so much meaning to her character and her death while also cleaning up game filler that wouldn't fit into a TV show.

I'm so glad that one of my favorite games actually has a good screen adaptation lol

  3. Loved the nods to the game! Few things I noticed was that the museum scene was a great tribute, even having the debri falling behind them as they entered in the doorway (in the game this is where you are separated from Tess and Ellie). Next was the music during the clicker scene, was the same music from during the game when you are in “combat”. Lastly when the last of us music played as Joel walked up to Ellie on the rooftop, with the capital building in the distance. This shot and dialogue were basically perfectly in line with the game. There was also plenty of other dialogue from the game sprinkled in. Oh and the Clickers where phenomenal. I loved this episode.

  4. There was no reason to change Tess' death. It reinforced the tension between The Firefly resistance and FEDRA, and that's a reason for them somewhat trusting the fireflies and their end goal in regards to Ellie. I also thought the kiss scene was kind of lame.

On a positive note, they absolutely nailed the museum set. The clickers were so well done and scary as hell.

  5. I felt the kiss was too much. Like for starters, Tess close your mouth, turn your head, do something. It just came off as awkward— he has his tendrils down her throat and she still hasn’t got the lighter turned on.

  6. when i saw the zombie approaching i said: oh going for a little smoochie is she the one you love in sixth grade?
and i didnt actually expect it to actually be a kiss and i knew she was gonna die but i started crying it was so strange

  7. Definitely wasn’t a fan of this. I don’t care if I was getting torn apart or infected I’d move my head or something..like that’s not how I want to go out.. 🤮

  8. im not sure this was what they were going for but i thought perhaps it was an attempt for the infected to be sentimental and human again? it would make the scene much more tragic

  9. Bro that kiss scene was literally like something you'd find on a japanese fetish website. Tbh she didn't have to go out that way, her death in the game portrays her character way better

  10. I prefer Tess's death in the game. The one in the show was ok right up until the weird Resident Evilish zombie kiss. Also really? A lighter? There was a bunch of grenades on the ground.

  11. I think that this scene was done with the purpose to show better how the infection gets transmitted, because now we know that if you got bitten, the same thing happens (and probably with much more speed from that fungi thing to came out)

  12. Hated it. It makes no sense for the fungus to not transmit via spores like every other cordyceps. Instead we get this bizarre 'welcome to the hive' kiss. There's no cordyceps hive mind…what the fuck? This isn't grounded in reality at all. These are more like regular zombies than cordyceps infected creatures.

  13. I can explain to you what wrong with this kiss scene. They can't smell or use any other type of sense cause the fungus takes space on the limbic system.

Auditory nerves are in the temporal lobe so they can hear perfectly or even better because their other senses are out.

So scientifically this scene made a pretty obvious mistake what the game doesn't.

It was well shot & an overall good scene but while Last of Us creators did their research before introducing this fairly possible ideal the show runners don't. what is sad even if it was a well made scene after all, just dumb.

  14. Tess is infected so her body is giving into the infection. The infected man could sense that she was infected and wanted to welcome her into the hive mind. The only part of Tess that was still fighting was her trying to start the lighter but her hand was shaking due to the infection and that's what was giving her trouble.

  15. Don’t get me wrong it’s kinda dumb but at the same time maybe yeah it was trying to speed up the process.
I don’t see why everyone is crying over it but I can understand why they think it’s weird and dumb.

  16. All this hivemind shit and this godawful moment cemented the show as trash. Explain it whatever the fuck way you want but this is an embarrassment of a scene that goes completely off the rails only to butcher what was a really moving moment in the game.

They weren't at the museum because their leisurely stroll took them there, they ducked into it to hide from armed HUMANS that might have caught their trail. Tess reveals she was infected, they have their dramatic moments, she volunteers to stay behind and keep the troops at bay while they sneak out upstairs. They go, she stays and not long after they reach the 2nd floor you hear the gunshots. Tess is gone and you didn't even get to see it. The sounds of gunshots signifying her sacrifice.

As a whole the scene was a brilliant sendoff to her that subverted a lot of atypical zombie movie tropes and provided a seamless transition into the next chunk of game which had Joel and Ellie sneaking out while the remaining soldiers nipped at their heels. Or picking a fight with a couple of them in the process. There was potential there for a solid action scene but no, instead we get to watch Tess make out with the infected, something they DO NOT do in the game and then it jump cuts to the main characters continuing on their leisurely stroll.

Makes me wonder if the Bloaters are going to have huge dongs hanging out just for more creepy necrophilia for no good reason. Or how they're going to butcher the Winter story arc, one of the single best parts in the original game. I legitimately thought Joel managing to hold a clicker back and pushing one off with little effort would be the worst thing in the episode after the stupid "they're a hivemind" discussion. Boy was I wrong.

This show is utter sewage. Zero legitimate horror value even though that's what they clearly want to lean into.

  17. The kiss was to counter balance the fact that Joel wasn't able to kiss her like he wanted to when he left. You can see that he wants to, to say goodbye but he can't. I thought the idea was that the virus had taken that moment from them, literally too when the infected sense the fungus in her and speed up the process by mouth infecting further and connecting.
