  1. Time to full infection was shown in the first episode with the kid.
There was a sign on the wall behind the FEDRA soldier.

Neck, Face, Head – 5 to 15 minutes
Torso, Arm, Shoulder, Hand – 2 to 8 hours
    Leg, Foot – 12 to 24 hours

  2. The show is very good especially for a videogame adaptation. I am a little disappointed that they changed Tess's death so much but I think I understand why they did it. I do think that if they continue replacing all of the fighting against other humans with the infected it could end up undermining a lot of the story but we shall see.

  3. Mazin and druckmann have commented about the 'kiss'. The infected are only violent if people resist them. Tess clearly wasn't resisting, so the infected spread their fungi in the most efficient way, which is to enter her mouth.

  4. Simply explained… Fungis, like trees, have roots. These are spread over large areas. If one of these mutations dies or stands on one of these extensive roots, it works like a telephone line and the rest comes running. But it only works with direct contact with the ground and only if such a root happens to run long. The probability is high, since now 20 years have passed, so a lot of time to distribute.
In fact, there is an area on earth that has exactly this network in the soil of fungi over several kilometers. But I don't know where that was.

You may have noticed that the fungus broke out in a flour and grain factory in Indonesia. Flour and grain are exported to various countries pure or in products. This is how the fungus most likely spread. In the pilot, there was constant talk about cookies. Sarah, Joel and Tommy never ate any. But the old lady in the wheelchair has eaten and then mutated.

Fungus also like it moist and shady. That's why the basement in the house likes to mold. Mold is a type of fungus. That's why the mutants try to get out of the light. Otherwise, they will dry up in the long run.

  5. The infected are just saving the planet from humans. Look how nature made a huge comeback in this episode. The infected aren't evil. It's just mother nature trying to save herself from us….. This literally just occurred to me.

  6. Am I the only one that doesn’t like people using the term “zombie” for everything? Zombies are very different to the infected in this show. Zombies are people who have died and come back to life. The infected in this show are living people whose brain and bodies are being overtaken and controlled by Fungus. They don’t seek to attack and kill, they seek to spread to infection to every human left alive. I feel like zombie is used to describe so many different kinds of infection 😔

  7. Did u guys saw how fast this cordycepts spread of the affliction on the entire planet? In this episode date was 09.24.2003, but in first episode we saw another date – 09.26.2003. So god damn. It took only 2 days. From Indonesia to Texas. Madness. About time limit – it's depend from wound location. Head-Neck-Face – 5-15 min. Arm,Shoulder,Hand – 2-8 hours. Leg, Foot – 12-24 Hours.

  8. the fungus connection thing is also real. it's how mushrooms and trees in the forest communicate to each other, through their highway of mycelium network, which they use to transfer food, nutrients, water, carbon and other minerals.

  9. This aint a spoiler since its not mentioned in the game, but i have this theory that maybe Ellie's mom got infected while preagnent of Ellie, and that's why Ellie is imune to the cordycepts..
    What do you think????

  11. Thank you for not calling them zombies. Through out the transformation, the host is still alive. The fungus keeps the host alive, sadly the person is just a long for the ride. The runner stage, you can see but not so good since it's also attached to your eyes. Stalkers can see but only a little out of one eye.
