  1. While this scenario is highly unlikely and improbable, the game/show’s writers grounded a lot of the explanation in science. The talk show guest made reference to a type of fungus that takes over ants. There is a great & creepy BBC video on YouTube with a zillion views showing a time lapse video of that very fungus taking over an ant; it will creep you out. The talk show guest also rightly pointed out that fungus can’t survive in the human body (warm blooded) and has no reason to, but then hinted at the possibility of climate change, and asked what would happen if the world got slightly warmer and gave fungus a reason to evolve to survive in a warmer world (and thus making human hosts a viable option). Because climate change is such a topical and timely subject of our news today, the writers did an amazing job of taking something that is on our minds today, tied it with some sound science, and created a world that pretty much scares the heck out of all us viewers because it all seems so plausible. The writers & showrunners created something brilliant here.

  2. VERY cool to finally get a chance to check out this series that was filmed up here, IN and AROUND my typically pretty city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the surrounding area, where we've known for a long while that they were filming and transforming various parts of our city streets to look a little more dilapidated and apocalyptic than NORMAL!! Enjoying ALL you both share on this channel ! Waiting for the next Breaking Bad episode too!

  3. Asia: Why is she so important?
Me: Because she's immune! (Yelling at my tablet, lol)

I have to admit i was very surprised you guys didn't pick up on the fact that she was immune to the disease, even after the show ended. Lol

  4. Let's go! Only one episode I didn't care for in this, but this will be a wild ride yall! So glad you're reacting to this series based on the popular video game(s). Keep going! Mold on bread is a type of fungus, Pink, orange, brown, and black mold are different forms. You'll see black mold usually in some homes in Texas. Pink and orange mildew forms in shower stalls, both are different forms. Fun fact: Bella and Pedro were told not to play the video games or watch any playthroughs or trailers. They went into this BLIND, which isn't the norm for actors. Guys, you just met a "Runner." Asia: "Who's Riley?" You'll find out. The band playing at the end was Depeche Mode.

  6. Glad you are doing this series. On the next one, we find out where it started. Then you will see how many times Joel and his family avoided getting infected. Couldn't stop laughing about BJ almost throwing up. It does look pretty disgusting. Keep the tissues close by….just in case.

  8. Asia, BJ, if I'm not mistaken i think you both missed the most importantly part of the ending. When Tess scans Ellie, it reads a red light indicating that she is infected. Ellie explains that it was from 3 weeks ago and she didnt change. She's immune. Thats why Ellie is important. I think at that moment you two were discussing the little boy from earlier because you realized what really happened in that scene. Definitely keep watching. Cheers!

  11. What a great blind reaction. I really hope y’all keep watching but a word of warning: you don’t what you’re getting yourselves into 😂.
    Keep the Kleenex handy.

Also, and I think another person mentioned it but this is more about the human element and how different people survive and live in this world than the infected. But obviously, more than anything this is Joel and Ellie’s story.

One other thing: The fungus in this story is real. It’s called Cordyceps and it affects insects, like ants, crickets and others. Go look it up and look at some pictures. It’ll freak you out.
Neil Druckmann, creator of the game and co-creator of the TV series, was watching an episode of Planet Earth and saw a part on cordyceps and how it infected ants. That’s how he came up with the idea to make the humans infected with cordyceps in the game.

It’s an amazing story. I’ve played the first game over 10 times and the second game around 8 times.

    Hope you keep watching!

  12. This is such an amazing series, so happy you're reacting to this! In my opinion, the best adaptation of a game (the Last of Us 1 and 2 games are absolutely epic). I can't wait until you both move through the series and learn more, there's so much to unpack and get through…enjoy Asia and Bj! 🙏
