  1. i vote not playing the game. it will lead to good discussions to have both sides of a fan of the show, how it is living up to the game experience and the experience of someone learning as the show goes on.

  2. HOLD OFF FOR AARON, we need to have an unbiased opinion on the table, since everyone I know has gone through 2 I really want to see if they change the story, and I want to see how fresh eyes view what is to become of our characters.

  3. (Haven't played the 2nd game)
To me, from the first time I finished the game, that "okay" meant "I know you are lying but I'm fine living that lie with you".
If Marlene was so sure Ellie would of agreed then why she didnt give her a choice, let her say goodbye and comfort Joel at least.
Both Marlene and Joel took that away from her but I'm on "kill everyone" side all the way

  4. is it just me, or did it feel like it needed an episode between eight and nine? not talking about knowing something from the game wasnt shown, but rather that it went from a big episode to a checklist episode. dunno if its because is the part that i remember the most, so i wasnt that lost in it watching, knowing every next move. but it felt a bit BAM BAM BAM WE HAVE TO HIT THIS AND THIS AND THIS AND THIS. felt a bit rushed. dunno why it wasnt maybe a longer episode, since it was the finale, so they could lay it down a bit more gently.
anyway. just my view, experience watching, and opinion.

  5. While the fireflies would have never asked her opinion, Ellie is a 14 year old girl suffering severely from survivors guilt. She would be easily swayed to end her life for the cause and I doubt they would mention the real chance it would be for nothing. It’s why kids and teens aren’t allowed to make such large decisions for themselves in society now.

  6. dont get me wrong, i love the game and i loved the episode, but it kinda felt like that death of the noght king in GoT, we been through a lot of shit to get here, and in the blink of an eye, it was gone, just like that.

  7. I both understand and resent Marlene. She tries to guilt trip Joel into giving up Ellie by asking him if he thinks Ellie would do the right thing and even says he knows she would yet she didn't consult Ellie, I think if she was so damn certain of Ellie being willing to have her brain removed she would have been straight with Ellie. Joel did the right thing as a grieving parent who has rekindled and regained the closest thing to a relationship with his daughter. But he did the wrong thing in deciding the fate the world, though there was absolutely no guarantee it would have worked.

  8. It's perfectly fine for Joel to make this choice himself as long as he's fully prepared for Ellie to hate him when she finds out. Sometimes a person is too emotionally invested to think clearly (like with abusive romances) and they need outside intervention.

Ellie is too young to make this choice herself.

Of course the Fireflies are stupid for killing the first person the find with a cure. If they're already willing to kill Ellie for the world, why not impregnate her a few times first so you have back ups?

  9. In kindergarden we started learning about time. I came home that day and was furious at my mom for lying to me about Santa. I told her how many people lived in our city (It's on the welcome to town sign) and how impossible it was for Santa to even visit everyone in our town in a single night.

I refused to eat dinner that night and didn't forgive her for a few days.

  10. The Christmas thing is always so funny to me, because I never had a thought about a big guy coming down a chimney, eating cookies, and giving gifts. The Christmas tradition was always more of a secret santa thing where I knew my parents got me gifts, but I didn't know who, so I was just thankful. That pretty much applied to all the typical children myths. I think the biggest myth I believed in was that adults/parents knew everything/were always right, which lasted until high school where teachers are a little more frank with you.

Relating this to did Joel make the right decision, he did. He gave her the opportunity to make that choice, because, let's be honest, the Firefly's were just going to use her from the get-go. The issue with Joel's decision is he decided to double tap on bunch of innocent people in order to try and prevent anything recumpence. That was the part where he crossed the line. Even the lying I'm ok with, because like Calvin said, if an adult is not telling you the truth and you can see that, there's probably a good reason for it (and eventually you'll understand it).

  11. I was both so looking forward to and absolutely dreading that final "Okay." So, so much is said without saying anything at all. I also just felt a whole wave of emotion once the credits rolled even if I knew what was coming.

  12. I'd love to see Aaron PLAY THE GAME FIRST! He should see the story the original way it was meant to be seen and felt, before the inevitable changes come from the fan backlash. An "untainted", for lack of a better term, version of the story leads to a more natural reaction, imo….

  13. “I’ve changed my mind; I’ve decided you do need a father. So, I’m gonna keep you…and I’m gonna teach you.” Hot take: David said this but Joel embodied this in the finale. 😬

  14. I ultimately think Joel did the right thing by saving Ellie from the surgery, even outside the emotional attachment reasons. Context clues (in the game at least) reveal that the Fireflies had a few test subjects like Ellie, but completely wasted their potential, not to mention the sheer incompetence of going straight to a fatal brain surgery instead of doing more tests and possibly figuring out additional means to synthesize a cure while she's good and healthy. Not to mention that they really weren't that morally good of an organization to begin with, and almost certainly would've withheld the cure (even if they somehow managed that) from everyone who didn't agree with and/or tithe to them, and just make a mini dictatorship.

  15. I've asked some friends that are new to the story if they liked it. Not because they might think it's bad or whatever. But I've bought this game 4 times over the last 10 years! We know this story inside out so I was wondering "do you care?" "Are you connected to these characters?". Because we have spent a long time with them, the game itself takes 20 hours? And every player will spend more time doing something slightly different and your bond will change and grow differently for everyone. Their answer has been yes of course. Which is a testament to Neil and Co. I thought they did an amazing job here. It was almost shot for shot which is an achievement.

I'm VERY interested to see the reaction of the next part of the story as it was so polarising. Personally, I loved it. I can see some new fans getting very upset about future events and I can't wait to see their expectations shot.

Great work guys as always. Love from the UK

  16. Actually I'm so hyped for them adapting part 2, i personally loved TLOU part 2 SO MUCH, but some people hate it, so they are giving more time to adapt it, they said it will take at least 2 more seasons to adapt part 2, the show will have season 3 too, so I know it'll be great
