The Last Kingdom is Definitely My Favorite TV Series Ever!!!

My Mom and I both LOVE The Last Kingdom to pieces!!!! We found it together randomly and instantly fell in love with the show and binge watched the entire series that was out at that point (as even season 4 hadn't dropped yet when we found this show. Soooo we were stuck waiting for a while for it to come out). And we still both loved the show… I was stuck waiting at home all day on April 14th for Mom to get home from work so we could watch the new movie together…. And…. we both LOVED the movie to pieces too!!!!! It did feel like a bow on top to us as well!!! It did feel like we'd just watched a very long episode of The Last Kingdom and there is ABSOLUTLY nothing wrong with that!!! We also shared a lot of your same feelings and frustrations about Athelstan being an ass to Uhtred the same as Edward and Alfred… That we both will miss Aldhelm and Uhtred too right along with you guys:'( And, on a side note, I saw that video too Nikki of Alexander Dreymon, who plays Uhtred, on Instagram of him stripping to Brittany Spears and I was laughing sooooo hard!!!!
I truly believe that Young Ragnar is in Valhalla, they just couldn't get the actor for this cameo. I mean, Brida saw him as she was dying and I think he must have been welcoming her into Valhalla (I REFUSE to accept any other alternative lol 😭😭)
Now that you finished The Last Kingdom. You need to do a reaction to the movie Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut with Orlando Bloom. Amazing cast and story of medieval crusade time. Make sure you watch the directors cut version.
That ending worked so well for me, literally in the space between life and death. Very well done movie in my book. Incredibly glad they treated it with such respect
I enjoyed this (in a pained way), but I guess it reinforced for me my love for series over movies. There is a lot I would have liked drawn out over maybe 6 episodes…
I love how the movies final battle was so similar to the very first battle we saw in season one. It was a perfect bookend to the whole series.
I thought I didn't like that movie at first, think I like it better now. Really shows you what an asshole a Medieval king is. His right to order you around and kick your ass is divine, his word is the law. Shows what you get for saving princesses and not thinking enough about your own bloodline and allies. Stop making excuses for Athelstan (who is a miscast, btw, it's been 15 years and he's played by the same boy), he's grown man and 'love' and 'feelings' do not justify his actions. And the final battle is just a beauty, I was afraid for a minute there they decided to go with fire arrows and other bullshit, but it turned out to be pretty realistic and brutal.
The last Kingdom is a serious I could not get into couldn't even finish season 1 which I thought was surprising because I loved Vikings then I tried watching the last Kingdom 7 kings must die I think I was 30 or 40 minutes in and then shut it off

I wish they filmed an alternate ending with Uhtred being called to heaven with Beocca, Thyra, Osferth, Halig and Leofric living in paradise while he was being called to Valhalla, giving him one last choice to make. Half Saxon, Half Dane. Would have been nice to see the comparison, especially with how many times Uhtred got baptised.

Horrible movie tbh, unworthy of a great series. Gave me GOT S07/08 vibes all the way. The portrayal of Æthelstan in particular was ridiculous and a huge departure from the series. Wonder when Fletnix will be pushing the 'trans' thing down ppl's throats with series like these. Could be any time soon now. Anyhew.. TLK ended properly with the last episode of season 5. This flick was simply a mistake.

These main characters committed to this movie during the last season of of TLK. A lot of the characters were unavailable as they had other commitments. So, Ragnar is probably doing other stuff.

I'll miss this show, and your reactions, a lot. Steven's right, it's absolutely a top 10 worthy show, and right up there with Black Sails as one of the most underrated.

Uhtred said he's never kneel to an English King and he didn't until he kneeled to Aethlestan 2 or 3 times. What is that about? I didn't like seeing Uhtred so subservient.
Bawled my eyes out.. again!! I love how the movie ended with Uhtred torn between the people he loved here & going on to be with those he loved in Valhalla. An unimaginable choice, same it has been his whole life. I believe it is left up to audience member to decide what he chose. I for one choose to believe he stayed with Finan & Sihtric. Valhalla will still be there when his time truly comes. And I believe young Ragnar made it to Valhalla. We just didn't get to see him because the actor was not able to be in the movie. What a great movie and an AMAZING series. I am gonna miss it sooooo much. Definitely in my top 5 of all time. I will have to re-watch it to get my fix! Destiny Is All!!!
The first half of the movie gave me such anxiety, with the amount of bs that Uhtred was going through. Finan losing his wife and Eldhem 😢 he did not deserve that death.. but….where was Stiorra, Edith and Aleswith ? I thought Stiorra was living with her dad in Bebbanburg…can anyone give me answers? I know I’m the book Uhtred married Edith but this story was to wrap up how England came together. Best show ever though !!!

My only negative comment is that with so many characters not included in this movie we only learned the fate of young Uhtred. I am happy the he is still alive in the show, because his death killed me in the books. It makes sense that he wasn’t included in the show considering their relationship was nowhere near the books. Though I I thought for certain Eadyth would be in this movie as she and Uhtred were married in the books. I can’t remember but I thought it was Eadyth who had the 7 kings must die dream. If it wasn’t her then Beneddetta who was excluded from the show completely.
Day 2 of Suggesting an Reaction of the Documentary Film "Apocalypse: the Cold War"
I was hoping to see more cast returns but I was thankful for the ones who did. They told the story perfectly even with some characters not shown and it still felt like TLK. The Valhalla scene I was thankful for some returns there, but I think it didn't show his brother Ragnar simply because it was a casting thing. I think he was there, just not "shown". As well as other people who weren't shown. I think they did great with the film and I'm glad it didn't show an actual death scene for Uhtred. I like leaving things on either a positive, or open-ended. Even if we can assume he went to Valhalla.

You REALLY need to watch "Have We Found the Lost Battlefield of Brunanburh"…. on History Hiy channel. Hosted by Dan Snow, one of UK's foremost Historians. Gives a breakdown of the battle….. in detail. And there's a twist to it that even threw me. You'll love it.
