FINALLY
Let it be known that Shyamalan genuinely believed that he could do better than the source material and everything from the show.
Like, literally, the audacity for him to think it and believe he created a masterpiece.
Ong,
Soh-ka
Ee-roh ….
Gaaahhhhhhh stoppp!
Zuko didn't know Katara's name until the secret koy fish temple in the North Pole. That's how disrespectful this movie is.
Since you guys are also Dragonball fans, are u willing to sacrifice your souls to watch the other bad adaptation?
You want to hate this movie even more, the studio debated either doing a fourth season of the animated show at the time or the live action movie. They made the movie and itβs failure was why it took 10 years before Korra was made. Also the fourth season would have been what happened the Zukoβs mom a rebellion led by Azula and eventually a redemption for her.
Could you guys react to Nostalgia Critic's Top 11 Worst & Best Avatar: The Last Airbender Episodes (in that order) and his review of The Last Airbender movie?
The QR code on Ong's head π
eeeroh is the correct pronunciation, I ro is English way. Your way.
I like how you guys took notice of how bad the movie is from a filmmaking perspective. If you ignore all of the issues like the lore being bad and names being mispronounced, the movie fails at basic stuff like editing, pacing, camera angles, acting, etc. The random jumpcuts and over use of exposition feels like this movie was the result of a 1st rough draft being used in the final product
I'm glad to have someone who agrees, one thing this movie does well is Aang's tattoos, I always thought they looked great here. They look like actual spiritual tattoo designs and not like someone who just got squashed under a blue paint roller.
In the original, Toph fits into the group so naturally that people always forget that first half of the show didn't have her at all.
"Everything changed when the TORCHBRINGER attack. But then again, Their most formidable opponent within those 100 years was the kingdom of Earth TikToker"
Man just called her "Sucky" XD
Princess yue is the only god Thing about this movie
To be fair, the pronounciation of the names probably came from a different dub of the show. In Germany for example the names were like that
made the avatar not able to kill, how could they do that to kyoshi thats her best quality
It's like someone made a Wal-Mart Brand Avatar.
Ong The Last Bone Bender. Legally distinct from Aang the Last Airbender. Any similarities are pure coincidence.
"Girl I live in a hut". ππ
You have to watch the Pitch Meeting for this movie. You'll love it
I hate how this film's "canon" made firebending the shittiest bending style by not having any of the firebenders create fire. The entire reason why firebending in the cartoon is so scary is because they have basically infinite ammo and it can be used at any time anywhere.
But by relying on an existing fire source, like the other benders, you make firebenders useless. Air is everywhere, water is everywhere, earth is everywhere, but not fire. What happens when the fire source gets extinguished, or the firebender gets too far away from it? They're fucked. Imagine the logistical nightmare that would be the airbender genocide in this film. Did the Fire Nation army just bring thousands of tortches with them up those mountains?
Fire doesn't just occour naturally like water, so if you're a firebender caught out in the rain, you're automatically dead because your fire source – which your fighting ability is entirely dependant on – is rendered useless. Any random waterbender just wins automatically by dropping a wave on a bunch of Fire Nation soldiers. How does the war even happen in this world, let alone how is the Fire Nation "nearing victory?" I have some serious concerns about the congative health of the Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom leaders and generals.
Actually how they pronounce the names in this movie is right in the asian way but that's not how the original shows pronounced it so it's kinda wrong.
If that many earth bender in the show made that many movements they would probably make an entire mountain range but they can only muster one rock in the movie
"aang" my bad… "uung" yeah put some respect on his stupid nameπππππππ
Avatar and The Legend of Narrating the Whole Movie Instead of Having to Act Out the Scenes
I think what they were going with the fire is like what they did for the other elements that there need a source
The movie is not bad if you watch it as a comedy parody.
I still can't believe they changed the metal ship to just being on the ground. Literally the whole reason they didn't have hope was because there was no earth to bend
The only think that I like about this movie is the tattoos especially when they light up , and the score playing when aang goes the massive wave against the fire nation & princess yue
I find is so unbelievably odd how an Indian director chose to make all the lead characters white when in the show they were not and then chose to make his own race play the bad guys of the story…. such a choice. Like it feels like it's saying only white people can be the good guy heros which is so unbelievably messed up…
An Asian director had the opportunity to have an all Asian cast and none of the fans of the show would have been butt hurt about "forced diversity" because it's accurate to the show…. but changing the main characters to be white feels like forced whitewashing… which is always icky.
Now it's making me wonder if M. Night Shyamalan has a ton of internalized racism given how many of his films are written by him too and so many of his characters are played by white people…
Anybody else remember the Last Airbender game that Push Pop had on their website?
Lets go and find Toof ππππππ
Weirdly, the characters who are done the best in this, are the ones done the best in the Netflix: Zuko, Ee-roh/Iroh, and Sokka. Though Katara in the film is at least a character as opposed to her Netflix version. And I will continue to argue that Ung's tats are significantly better than Netflix's Aang's tattoos. Stupid name changes aside, this film still sucks.
Thiers a few things I like from this movie but thiers more that I don't like. I understand where it's coming from with the firebending, every other element you need it close to you, but fire bending you can just make it out your hands? So I can understand them making fire to be able to bend it.
I'm not mad about the actor they choose to be zuko, for what he was giving I thought he was pretty good same with iroh. Iroh in the live action tv show to me felt more like iroh from season 3 during the play episode.
"There are no Live-Action adaptations in Ba Sing Se!"
The netflix show deadass feels like the best show ever compared to thisπ
