  1. 80% of all personalities were heavily changed. I dislike it a lot.

    Garp is not Garp

Ben Beckman is not Ben Beckman

    Zoro is not quite Zoro

    Nojiko is not Nojiko

    Mihawk is not Mihawk

    Buggy is not Buggy

    Coby is not quite Coby

    Luffy is not quite Luffy

    Sanji is not quite Sanji

    Usopp is not quite Usopp

    and more

The personalities that got changed are one of the best aspects of one piece, and they destroyed that part.

  2. I want to talk about LA Zoro..in my opinion I think Macken did a great job portrait LA zoro rather than anime zoro in the first 2 or 3 episodes because what I get from the early information that we already knew they want to make the LA as realistic as possible especially the character building and crew bonding..so to have LA zoro to look more self center, dont care about anything and cold because he is a pirate hunter kind of make sense before he become more open to his friend and he even made jokes and laughing with them..we cant get these kind of moments in anime or manga because if I am not mistaken in the anime zoro said that he got lost on the way to find mihawk and become the pirate hunter to survive so luffy laugh at him..but my ultimate love for Anime Zoro is just unbeatable _

  3. Your complaints on Luffy and Zoro were mostly nitpicks that really doesn't affect the characters at all. IMO the live action versions captured and embodied the personality and spirit of those two characters amazingly well. When you see the live action Luffy and Zoro on screen, you can immediately see and feel that they're them. Sure, its not 100% and it never will be. We have to stop acting like it has to be. Otherwise, just read the manga or watch the anime.

  4. I dropped a tear or two on sanji's episode. My favorite from east blue is Nami's arc and I have some mix feelings with the LA, Nojiko and Gen hated nami? wtf are they dumb ?
but that thing aside I cant wait for season 2, I still cant believe OP was the one who broke the LA curse.

  5. It's not perfect but the passion and the huge potential is there. with the vote of confidence, I hope they increase the episode number (so it isnt as rushed and the emotional parts can develop/hit better) and budget to improve/add the effects. overall, it gave me the similar joy I had when I first started reading it ❀

  6. The best explaination for why the Shank's Haki moment feels meh is that no one we know has Observation Haki yet so of course no one's gonna notice because it wasn't directed at young Luffy so he didn't get the effects

  7. I think what Garp did wasn't a test, but to wake Luffy up on how crazy the journey to the grand line is, calling upon Mihawk to show the difference in power levels is just perfect, except luffy didnt fight him and instead zoro. Garp was really trying to hold back his power as you can see when he got angry and proud when luffy reflected the cannonball. The fight on the island was the acknowledgement by Garp that nothing can stop Luffy from his dreams.

  8. It was pretty meh overall. Not amazing, not trash – unless there was a flashback (jesus fucking christ) – just meh. And of course they had to jokerize Buggy. Apparently anything else isn't possible anymore.

  9. It was very obvious in the live action that Garp wasn't serious about capturing Luffy – it is a major part of his arc that Koby confronts him and he has to address his crew to avoid problems from the word spreading

  10. I am surprised by how many people I’ve seen being impressed with the portrayal of Zoro. Many of Zoros lines and delivery came off as forced to me. The lines were like he was trying to be tough/cool and they ended up falling flat. It didn’t seem natural and was cringey imo. Now, I will admit I haven’t finished all the episodes yet. So this is something I’ve noticed early on and can progress through the season? What’re your thoughts on this?

  11. I mean i was kinda disappointed at first that the story line changed up, but after like 2 or 3 episodes i got used to it. The cast was completely amazing, i loved everyone in the crew. But even though I kinda liked the new way the arcs got summed up, i still see issues in the future. Like how are they gonna do post enies lobby, garp and luffy already met. And namely, what also triggered me in the series, octar was missing, so how are they gonna do the celestial dragon punvh? Sure they could introduce him later on, but that won't hit ad hard.

  12. I loved Garp and his involvement in this, but I think the "It was a test" ruins it. So I choose to believe that was a lie.

I don't think it was a test. I think Garp genuinely wanted to capture his idiot grandson (hence Mihawk) so he doesn't become a pirate. This is both preventing Luffy from dying in the Grand Line and ALSO removing future conflict down the road where he ACTUALLY might be commanded to kill Luffy (see the pain of Marineford), while ALSO preventing his grandson becoming something his code is completely against. Better in chains then that, and heck, maybe he'd get his final shot at converting him, threatening him to become a marine or live in prison.
When he gives up in Arlong, I think it's because he sees how much this means to Luffy, and just how truly committed he is to following his freedom. Both in saving Arlong Park and in standing by his crew, he is entirely dedicated to his goals. So he gives up. This kid is never going to be what he wants him to be.

So he says… So be it. I'll get out of your way, and hope I never have to face you in a true battlefield….

  13. Makenyu (zorro) should lose his cringe californian accent

Why is Japanese dub not available for me here in Canada?

Koby is super cringe.. he looks like a girl and acts super shocked the entire series.. needs to learn acting

The rest is good for me. 7/10
    Cant wait for grandline eps

  14. i loved One Piece as a child, but i never got to see it seriously. I only got to see twenty episodes or so, but still, i liked it. This show rekindled my love for One Piece: i was glued to my seat and could not stop watching the entire thing! Big thumbs up for the production, effects, music score, dialogues and atmosphere! I cannot speak about fidelity to the source material but i see people are very pleased with it too! So big W for me! 9/10

  15. I will say I’m not as mad at the show of shanks haki with the sea king only because in the show they haven’t mention haki yet so i believe we will get this scene redone in a flashback on the future

  16. Your critique for the most part was fine, but I do not see your critique against Zoro at all. I thought he was excellent. And "I don't laugh"? He definitely laughs multiple times in the series. Maybe watch again a little more closely.

  17. I have really enjoyed the live action. Lots of fun and because they changed so much it was much more enjoyable to see what would happen going forwards. Yes there were aspects that didn’t land but that’s okay.
Side note. Just been complimented on the white Ohara jumper I bought in the Deep South of Invercargill New Zealand. Love it btw ❀
