The Inner Self – A Journey To Our Higher Consciousness

The heroes journey that we all face is a personal evolution toward our own higher consciousness. The great story of our lives is what we return to when we’re out of alignment in order to move forward.

To fulfill our meaning is difficult, sometimes it’s hard to stay mindful that we’re even on a journey of self-discovery at all. This is why identity is central to realizing our grander vision for our lives. Who we are and what we want are one and the same. But figuring out who we are is not easy because we’re heavily influenced by our environment and relationships. It is therefore essential that we stay connected with our inner self.

But what do I actually mean by the inner self?

In this video, I argue that it is actually an accessible part of our consciousness that we can use to help shape the direction our lives take. It’s the part of us that pushes us to be better, to seek out new experiences, and to strive for something greater. It is the great arbiter of our mind’s eye.

As Friedrich Nietzsche famously said, ā€œHe who has a why to live can bear almost any howā€, but in this video it is asserted that ā€œhe whose how has been strengthened can achieve almost any why.ā€ In other words, having a clear purpose or reason for living can help us overcome hardships, but having a strong connection to the self allows us to figure out that purpose and reason for living in the first place. Furthermore it allows us to continuously evaluate this greater purpose as life unfolds.

Living your life with meaning and connection to the inner self go hand in hand.

  1. We are participants in a game of Self- realization, in my opinion. What that means is to long to write, but your video is doing a great job to spark people into asking the question for themselves.

  2. Great video! I subscribed, and looking forward to more from you.

I can only mention that since you started with The Hero with a Thousand Faces, it would've been nice to mention examples of archetypes from stories to make what you're talking about clearer. For instance, the inner self is the wise old man archetype that guides the hero (the ego, what we call "us") on his journey.

  5. I am very pleased to see someone use the AI image generation software so effectively! The kind of dreamlike softness of the illustrations go very well with the material.

As for the material itself… I find myself wondering about this self actualization process as being a singular, lover's pursuit. Is it possible to self actualize as part of a larger group? A couple? A family? Does interacting with others always put us in a kind of trance? I know a lot of Buddhists who live together, would say that their practice toward enlightenment is very much a group project.

But then, yeah, a whole bunch of distinctions begin to invite themselves into the conversation. When does group interaction help you focus on your obstacles to enlightenment, and when does it distract you away from it?

I look forward to seeing what future chapters of this work look and sound like! I'm glad such explorations are still possible these days!

  6. Wonderful play on the "why" quote. If i understood it correctly, does it mean that throughout the struggles in life, the character of the individual is built, and it is that building process that reveals what goals/quests are worthy of attention?
