The INFAMOUS Death Of Tyre Sampson | ICON Parks Freefall Disaster

ICON Park opened on the 4th of May 2015, in the heart of Orlando Florida to much excitement from the public. Tyre Sampson visited ICON Park to go on the rides. One of these rides known as the Orlando freefall was billed as the worldā€™s tallest drop ride and infamously rose to fame in early 2022 after a horrific incident sent shockwaves not only around Orlando, but over the world as 14-year-old Tyre Sampson was flung from the ride to his death.

Around 10 minutes in, Sampson was dislodged from his seat. Passengers, friends and family watched in horror as Sampson hung on. Sampsons last words were ā€œTell my mom and daddy I love them.ā€ Before he fell out of his seat and plummeted to the ground. On the video, other passengers are heard screaming with demands they stop the ride. Sampson was now on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood, he fell 200 feet. One witness described it as the biggest smack they had ever heard in their life.

  1. There is a responsibility people who ride these rides have to their own safety. If you are morbidly obese, do not get on any ride that has weight or height restrictions. Better to be disappointed than dead.

  2. When I was little we went to Knott's Berry farm shortly after the opening of the Supreme Scream. My dad and my friend and I got on the ride. My friend was not buckled in and the safety check failed because she was holding her shoulder harness down. We started moving and despite my dad calling out for them to stop we kept going. My dad was able to wiggle out and click her buckle shortly before we got to the top. It was terrifying. Idk if there were other safety systems that would have stopped a tragedy, but I'm glad my dad has long arms

  3. I feel if his mother was there with him she wouldnā€™t have let gone on the ride in the first place because she would have seen he exceeded the rideā€™s weight limit to ride. Still a tragic story all around thošŸ˜”

  5. This is a simple one the youn man was to big to go on that ride plane and simple! That operator should have been charged with negligence hell even man slaughter! He knew he was to dam big hell the harness would not latch or the seat belt would hold him. RIP son.

  6. 1)the kid was too tall,
    2)the kid was too heavy,
3)the restraints couldn't protect him because of his size,
    4) he should have known better,
    5) his parents should have known better,
    6) his friends should have known better,
    7) the operator should have told him NOT to ride,
8)everyone knew beforehand it was dangerous to ride.
    9) STOP BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE FOR YOUR IGNORANCE TO SAFETY PRECAUTIONS,
    10) use common sense before riding a dangerous ride,
    11) was there a reason for no one NOT to point this out beforehand?

  7. WOW, UN fck'n real man!! These theme parks make BILLIONS of $ & yet can't seem 2 come 2 ANY CARING 4 the ppl tht pay HIGH prices 2 enter their parks, R ALLOWED 2 get on rides they R NOT physically suited 4! I've seen INFANTS as young as 6 or 7 MONTHS old sitting within a seat NOT suited 4 their tiny bodies, THIS happens on ADULT rides as well, namely the river rides! Then u have ppl tht R clearly 2 Big 4 the seat & restraining systems 2 lock in properly YET employees WILL tell u tht "all is fine" & send the ride on it's course!! Heavy set individuals shld NOT B allowed 2 ride these contraptions, adults & children tht R NOT tall enough nor heavy enough 2 fit PROPERLY in the seats & restraints shld NOT B allowed 2 ride, YET, again employees WILL send the ride on it's course any damn way!! It's not tht the employees don't care, (tho m quite sure there R MANY tht DON'T care) but rather R NOT PROPERLY TRAINED 2 operate said rides. & Least we all 4get, tht computer systems FAIL, we KNW THT frm our experiences w/ our OWN systems @ home!! The GREED of the Owner's of these parks is sooooo OVERWHELMING, tht it OUTWEIGHS SAFETY concerns & the manufacturer's of these rides DON'T take in2 CONSIDERATION ULTRA SAFETY FEATURES tht SHLD ALWAYS B INCORPORATED IN2 said ride, EVERY ride!! BETTER TRAINING 2 COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND the system & it's PROPER operation, SAFETY features & HOW 2 employ them!! There SHOULD B a "TEST SEAT" @ "ALL" rides & tho it is time consuming, "EACH person SHLD B

  8. His mouth is open in every one of his pictures; that's a telltale sign of low IQ. Gentle giant usually means that he was on the "spectrum".šŸ™Š Parents are to blame for letting him get so obese.

  9. As a theme park enthusiast, I would put all of the blame on to the ride operators (as they let him ride in the first place when he was too big for the restraint) and the maintenance team for altering the sensors in the restraint. seat belts act as a fail-safe if the restraint was to fail and it is not a legal requirement in the state of Florida

  10. Iā€™ve been to the ICON park in Florida. But we didnā€™t go on the rides there because it was very late and we just went to Sealife. (I believe it is nearby there. I had to say the lights at night were pretty to see though. But rip. Poor kidā€¦

  12. I live in Florida let me tell you teens always are running stuff and I donā€™t understand why there dumb and immature and Iā€™m 21 so Iā€™m not much older but I was never dumb or caused people pain from being a young dumb person. I saw the video before it was deleted they didnā€™t care they didnā€™t check his belt enough and they knew and when he hit the floor they literally didnā€™t care at all a girl said ā€œwhy didnā€™t you guys belt him rightā€? Thatā€™s exactly what they did they should be sued and the company for hiring dumb teens when I was a teen I wasnā€™t like that I still donā€™t like teens working anywheres still I never order or go on a ride if a teen is running it I pray there family heals from this this made me so mad and sad šŸ˜¢

  13. Carelessness all around. The operators, the park people who decided to tamper with those harnesses just so people who shouldnā€™t ride could ride, the designers not including simple backup safety measuresā€¦ This is so heartbreaking because SO EASILY they could have done better and saved him.

Rest in Peace Big Tic. šŸ•Šļø

  15. Something tells me ICON Park needs an investigation into it's other attractions. They should have rides meant for people of ANY size! Were the contractors behind these rides only worried about money more than safety?! Yeesh!

I think it's safe to say this poor guy should NOT had gone on any of the rides there! Period! Rest in peace, Big T buddy!

  16. I was in Orlando that day for 2 weeks with my mum and dad as part of my birthday treat. Of course I never went to Icon park and saw what happened. We heard about that on the news in the double tree Hilton hotel we stopped at which is closer to Universal. I did mainly the parks at Disney world and Universal Orlando resort. I donā€™t do drop tower rides after what happened to Tyre. Iā€™ll stick to roller coasters and simulator rides in theme parks.

  17. I used to love free fall rides but after I heard about this news, I just started avoiding it whenever I go to amusement parks. Call me paranoid, but the video of the kid falling down traumatized even the adrenaline junkie in me. Rest in peace, young man.
