The INFAMOUS Alpine Slide Disaster | The Tragic Death of George Larsson Jr

Action Park is perhaps the most infamous amusement park of all time. George Larsson Jr was the first to die at Action Park. Their rides were poorly designed, their safety record was shocking and their juvenile staff were under paid and under trained. It was estimated that up to 100 people per summer would leave the park seriously injured with people often joking “I managed to survive action park”. Unfortunately however, some weren’t as lucky. The parks poorly designed rides are documented to have caused the deaths of at least six people whilst the park was open. This video will focus on the death of George Larson Jr. George was the first recorded death in the park and perhaps the most infamous. This is the infamous story of the Alpine Slide Disaster.

  1. Action park sounds like a fun place. What about those who jump from airplanes or hang-glide off a mountain. Who gets sued when these go wrong? Pure bolderdash.

  2. I would love to see a series on Great Adventure Park in Jackson Township, NJ. In 1984, eight people died in the Haunted Castle attraction when it caught on fire. In 1987, a girl fell from a roller coaster because the operator allegedly didn't properly secure her harness. Plus an employee also died there.

  3. reminds me of taking my nephew to breckenridge one summer….we were going down slide on a sled…youngster told me i am going to win cause i am not touching the brakes….after he flipped and went out of chute he never said a word

  4. Sooo, the ride vehicle had no brakes, you say? And that is why it was going too fast, causing the young idiot to go off track and hit his little head on a rock. Yet that same defective vehicle was used all day by rider after rider with no problems. Everyone but this moron was able to keep it under control. That says something about the person who died, not the park or the vehicle. In case after case of deaths and injuries at Action Park all have one thing in common and that thing is a stupid careless person trying to show off to his or her friends by doing something that they should not have been doing. Simply put, one idiot can ruin the fun for thousands for decades to come. Thanks idiots!

  5. My dad told me recently he went here when he was younger (late teens to 20s? probably) and luckily was never injured by any of these horrific rides. I was in shock when he told me because I'd heard nothing but negativity about it. Awful that so many people fell victim to this place.

  6. It's shocking that not only did the park lie to try and evade responsibility, but they actually went on to use this and other incidents as a marketing strategy to attract people in….one which unfortunately worked because people go to theme parks because of the element of risk (or perceived risk) and knowing that others have died there seemed to work as an attraction

  7. I was a local growing up and I'll never forget the time a big fat guy came out of Cannonball Falls right on top of me. It was one crazy place but it sure was fun. I'd go there again if I had a chance.

  8. This is all too sad. We have experienced much the same thing at a place in Collingwood, Ontario they had slide rides so my husband fell off one of them and scraped his whole body. He was lucky. They are very unsafe and did close down likely due to many accidents.

  11. I was hurt real badly on the Alpine Slide in VT…flipped off of the sled and slid between 15-20 feet down the fiberglass slide. I got a pretty bad friction burns on the right side of my face, on the whole outside of my right arm and all down my right leg. The way they cleaned it was torturous. The took gauze an soaked it in some cleaning solution and rubbed the burns in the opposite direction of how I slid. They said the needed to get the fiberglass particles out of the wounds. It was one of the most painful situations of my life. Do not recommend flipping out of the sled going full speed!!!

  12. You know what else is scary? A world where there are no parks anything like Action Park.
Yes, they should have done better with safety, be careful not to legislate all fun away
There are people, RIGHT NOW, driving alone in their car, windows up, no other humans around, wearing face masks and scared to death anyway.
WHAT KIND OF A LIFE IS THAT???

  13. Gosh, that 100k that the family settled for is only $360k in today's money. 😳
They should have received that money plus the park so that they it could have been torn down and made it into something in remembrance of George.

  14. Ah, reminds me of the carnies in the 80's when I was a kid. They'd be smoking, grease all over them, looked like they just woke up from a bender, but you'd lock eyes with them and at that point you knew if he took his job seriously, or he shouldn't be within 200 yards of children….the 80's
