The Imperial Japanese Navy's Rifles, Pistols, & Fleet Carriers At Midway (Gun + Model Review)

In this video, we study three rifles, three handguns, and four of the major fleet aircraft carriers used by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during WWII and at the Battle of Midway Island.

Rifles include the Type 35, Type I, & Type 99 Navy Special.
Pistols include the Type 4/M1902 Papa Nambu, Type 14, & Type 94.
Carriers include the Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, & Hiryu.

Also, I have posted a companion video over on my personal channel where I go further into IJN aircraft carriers, basically looking at all of the major ones in service before & during the war. So if you are into naval technology like me, you might enjoy checking it out?

  1. Yah my dad fought the Japanese in Burma, indochina and as he would say China. With the 11th airborne rangers. Wounded twice. Grenade fragment to the nose and banette to the leg. Never even put in for the purple heart. The Japanese soldier who charged him with the banette ended up with the business end of his own blade. And my dad also got shot while he was in the reserves here in the states. Ricochet from the shooting range at Fort Ord California. If I remember right he was the only one who survived but I'm thinking that there may have been one other all the rest of them were killed. And to top it off my dad walked out of the hospital without being officially released. Said he had a family to support. Totally different breed of men back then. I can only hope I can measure up.

  4. Great video again. Had a carbine get away from me. Should of could have kept it. No defaced mum etc. Ahh well. Used it to finance a hk that I "had to have". Some regrets I hopefully will learn from. Miss my father too, did the best I could with that. I just try to be kind. Knowing what not to do is about all I've garnered in my 60 years, if I stay out of my own way…

  5. Thereโ€™s a nice 3 part animated series on YouTube detailing the Battle of Midway. The narrator said the Japanese lost because they didnโ€™t have enough planes to do the 3 things they were trying to do even though their fleet was large:

    1) Annihilate Midway Island
    2) Protect their fleet with combat air patrol
    3) Attack the American fleet
