The History Of: The CyberFaction

The CyberFaction: A Sub-Species split up into two, the “Early” CyberFaction (which actually appeared later) that Invaded Earth with Tobias Vaughn, and the “Late” CyberFaction (which actually appeared earlier) that invaded the W3 Wheel. One of – if not the – shortest chapter in Cyber History. So let us take a gander.

  1. Apparently Cyber Faction is also the Cyberman subspecies that appears in the Big Finish Cyberman mini series (specifically the version from The Invasion). However, given the context of how they got into their position, it's easy to slot in any Cyber design that appeared in stories set prior to the story (including the Cybus/Cyber Legion and Cyber Wars variants from New Who) since it is only referenced that a crashed Cyber ship containing a Cyber Planner had been found. Personally, I think that either the Early Faction or New Who designs fit best and I envision the newer Cybermen referenced near the end of Cyberman Series 2 as being Neomorph/Earthshock Cybermen due to how close the series is to Earthshock in the Timeline (at some point between 2503 and 2526, the years given for Sword of Orion and Earthshock respectively)… also my head canon is that the Earthshock Cyberleader was part of the large numbers of cyber conversions ordered by the Cyber Planner during its control over Earth in the Cyberman series (even though the Cyber Fleet is implied to have been destroyed at the end of it).

  2. how do the Cyber Faction slot into Blood & Steel and The Gates of Hell Because the Invasion and Wheel Cybermen appear in the Big Finish story The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield and why do they used the Invasion version in Out of Time2, Agent Drake has seen Cybermen specifically the variants from New Who but is unfamiliar with the Early variants
