The History of Teal Lego

I was pleasantly surprised by how well received my first Lego video was, so today I’m back with another one looking into one of Lego’s most interesting colours rather than just one goofy piece I liked, teal!

Most colours have a very simple history when it comes to Lego, not having much of a history to delve into at all, but teal has been though far more than you would probably expect over the years.

Also, reminder to check out R.R. Slugger’s channel, they’re a huge factor in my recent appreciation for this colour and have some phenomenal videos!

  1. When I was younger I went to this robotics camp that had lego mindstorms and big bins of assorted pieces. Everytime I saw a teal piece, I would put them together and collect it in my bin. Eventually I had a big 2x4x ~10 block. Good times…

  2. I was gonna make a comment about how I've only owned two Lego sets, one now and one when I was a kid.

Then I was gonna talk about how I couldn't find what set I had as a kid because the only thing I remember was the baseplate had a pool that used those 6×6 rounded corner pieces as water.

But then, I found out that there was literally one set that contained that piece in blue. It was Classic Value Pack 4293-1. I looked through the contents and, sure enough, that's the set I remember playing with.

I have a really vivid memory of me playing with a car and making it drift until I got in trouble because it left skid marks.

  3. I still own Amazon to this day, albeit a very, very played-to-death version with a bunch of parts swapped out (since I took my sets apart so many times a lotta stuff just kinda broke).

  4. so, teal was always just glanced at here and there, was then fucking murdered in a telltale style choose who dies scenario
and came back with a burning vengeance to become a decently used color overall while somehow getting the spotlight as a brick seperator, competing with the color orange of all things
    what a fucking legend

  5. Only thing I can say to this is I have a big f*ck-off-container full of the danish bricks as well as bazillion minifigs, and within that container, there's only a teeny-tiny amount of these elusive bricks.

Which is a shame considering how I would like to one day build a miniature city that could have teal as one of the accent colors for buildings. Rip that, I suppose.

  6. BRO I INHERITED LIKE 20 SAN PURPLE GATES. I don’t have them anymore but I was gifted like a used mars set or something and it was full of sand purple pieces! Thank you for the nostalgia and knowledge (:

  7. I only recently found your channel from the lego crystal piece video and let me just say you're awesome. I'll admit I actually forgot to subscribe after watching that one but luckily this video popped up in my recommended. I know your channel has mostly other things on it but even if just once in a while you make lego videos I will always watch them so keep it up cause they're great.

  8. I kinda love the pre-bionicle saving the company economic downturn lego had, Slizers/Throwbots, Galidor, all the weird ass 90s sci fi technic stuff, it's such a weird horrendously chrmingly dated era.

  9. About colors and LEGO, the most interesting to me is the "bley" color.
Basically in the 2000s they changed the dark grey piece color to a different, blue-er shade that's jarringly different and wasn't well-liked.
My brother has a lot of LEGO sets. I used to made little LEGO ducks with the triangular pieces, I remember having a character made of two original dark grey triangular pieces and he has a little brother who looks the same, but in "bley".
    Good times.
