The Hidden Reason Why Killing Rufio is the RIGHT THING TO DO in Oblivion

This is the dark tale of THE HIDDEN REASON WHY KILLING
Rufio for the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion, is actually the RIGHT thing to do.

When travelling throughout Cyrodiil, we encounter citizens sharing rumors of a mysterious brotherhood of Assassin’s known as the Dark brotherhood.

Dismissing the gossip, we continue on our adventure.

It’s not until we arrive at the Bandit infested Walker Camp, do we fire upon our would be assailants

However, we feel as if our killing has been observed by forces unknown & quickly realize the Camonna Tong thugs were not, in fact hostile, but a band awaiting a skooma trade, & so we are forced to put down the surviving member, lest we evoke the wrath of their wider organization back in morrowind.

With the weather turning, we are forced to make camp in our now crimescene. Turning in on the nearest bedroll to the fire, we begin a restless sleep & the air suddenly grows chill as a shadow approaches

  1. Hi. I love your videos. You have an awesome way of telling stories!
Thought you might like to know i found a way to jump on to the platform without pushing the button to lower the zombie pens in the last thief's quest.
The one where you shoot the arrow.
I have it highlighted for both times i did it on my (Non monetized) Twitch channel. (Same name)
I can delete that last sentence if you want me to.
I failed oddly once and then i did it right the second time.
I think it was that i quick saved at the same time i walked onto the switch.
If you walk on to the switch normally you can keep going and finish the quest from there. 🙂

  2. The Dark Brotherhood quest line in Oblivion is amazing, start to finish. I love how you have to do some detective work to find out why Rufio had to die. Then there's the quest where you kill everyone at a party, one by one, and it's never spelled out what they all did. And then the moment the traitor takes over your dead drops becomes clear on the second playthrough when you notice the font has changed. It's just amazing all around.

  3. I always assumed based on my his dialogue he def tried to assault a woman and it went wrong. And who ever is related to the woman wants him dead back when I was playing.

  4. The Dark Brotherhood is actually genius in Oblivion. The game generally is known for its linearity in most questlines, and goes rather heavy on the Hero factor without really catering to villains.

So, giving the player a faction that acts more villainous than others is a great way to bring some balance in giving the player some moral bilinearity. But the kicker is, the Dark Brotherhood are still low key good guys since most of the people they kill are arseholes that deserve it.

  5. The moment I found out about Luciens ghost in Skyrim I was so happy. I didn't know who he was on my first playthrough, as I hadn't played Oblivion yet. But returning to Skyrim after doing so and and realising who he was, it was like seeing an old friend again.

  6. while i really love the dark brotherhood of oblivion you have to wonder how the guards of Cheydinhal never found the sanctuary , its literally in a huge broken wall in the basement of the only abandonned house , surely the guards would have noticed the one or two peoples going by there at some point

  7. You do not know how terrifying it is to be like 10 years old playing this game at 3:00 in the morning thinking that you know usually you go to sleep to level up and you're trying to make your character A Little Bit Stronger you walk away and all you hear in the other room is usually quite well for a murderer

  8. It's funny listening to Lucien go over the five tenets, and realizing in Skyrim Astrid basically broke every single one. Skyrim's quests and writing weren't as good but it got that part right at least.

  9. One alternate dialogue I love is with Teinaava, who greets you more like a long lost family member if you are Argonian yourself. Saying, "You are Argonian yes, but you are no shadowscale. Oh, what chaos you must have experienced as a hatchling! It is good that you've finally found your way home."

  10. This thought just came to mind. Have you done a video on, I believe it is called "Lost Boy Cavern" in Oblivion? It is an Easter egg location with a somewhat sad story behind it as well an unique lich inside. I cannot remember if it becomes hostile at certain levels or not.
