The lives of women here are shaped by the illegal gold mines, and the brothels that spring up alongside them. For some they are a source of survival; for others a source of suffering.
The area occupied by mining in Brazil has more than doubled in the last decade, with much of the gold ending up in the EU, North America and countries around the world.
But the UN warns this expansion is exposing women to violence, sexual exploitation and trafficking.
BBC 100 Women and BBC Brasil gained rare access to the hidden lives of some of the women risking the danger of the mines for their dream a better future.

Will all humans finally become 100% civilised? I doubt it. The internet has brought out another level of being uncivilised. And then you find these hidden communities where it sadly lacks. People who are poor should have maximum 2 children. This for giving them all the financial support needed to develop the right skill set in order to break the chains of the poverty lifecycle.
These people choose the wrong path…..it is just a misconception that someone bound them to do this.

Greed is the worst of all sins, it literally sucks the soul of a human being and it cant be stopped once it begins.
Poverty around the world is not due to lack of resources but the greed of selected few that hold those resources. There is plenty of wealth to be distributed for everyone so everyone can have roof over their heads, food, clothing and medical care, but the 1% holds that wealth at the expense of the 99% of world population that is living in poverty and misery.
As a 22 year old man in UK. Im so Grateful that i have a home and easy life compared to millions like these women who sell themselves to survive its horrible. No woman should feel this. Prayers for all Women and Men who are struggling. ❤🎄
