In this episode of Theology Applied, Pastor Joel is joined by William Wolfe. The two of them discuss the rapidly growing divide among Evangelicals regarding Christian Nationalism. It appears that there is a second wave of “fault-lines” emerging. Regardless of the controversy, Christian Nationalism is the only way forward.

God isn't presently saving the world. God is saving His chosen remnant
Last two messages at church were on Christian Nationalism (albeit a premil view). Appreciate you, brother.
I'm ambiguous about Mr. Trump. Perhaps he was divinely ordained to fill the Court with sane men and women who understand the inestimable value of our Constitution. Would I vote for him in 2024? Of course, because the alternative will be untenable.
Joel, is the efficacy of convent nurture dependent on covenant nature? That is, doesn't the trust we have in the efficacy of God to regenerate our kids in accord with their identity/nature, relative to their location relative to us? Maybe you mean that, but was curious about the phrase.
It’s funny you asked your guest if he was a pre Presbyterian Baptist, because a couple weeks ago I was talking to someone who basically said “Joel is going to be Presbyterian soon. He won’t stay Baptist.”
Pastor Joel, i respect you, but I was disappointed with you during this episode… I can’t believe you didn’t get the Anglo joke. AD Robles has covered this monstrosity thoroughly 😂
Thanks for the thoughtful conversation. I’m not convinced that “we just lost half of evangelicalism,” though.
Various subsequent comments. Nebuchadnezzar was saved, yes. Darius, likely.
My now former denomination EFCA has national leadership who has yet to repent, but are all out going to do evangelism and "build up" churches as though the past is of no account. Only, they are even editing pasts blogs to remove what was and still is promoted. Sigh.
And, I remember 1954 (my memory goes back to when I was 1) and I lived all over the US. There was racism in the south, and greater racism in the northeast.
My wife and I were at the city council meeting in Pueblo CO last night for four hours. The majority of us there were professing believers. On the agenda was a item for the council to make sure certain federal laws are enforced, the purpose of which (on our part) is to try and prevent an abortionist from moving in to our area for the purpose of doing 'late term' abortions since our State of Colorado is a murder promoting State by the vote of the people, as is our city, also by majority vote, and people are coming from other States to get abortions here. I think it will take a move of the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit in revival through the gospel to turn things around. I will support civic work to try and mitigate the horror; I just think the severed consciences of people is so profound and in overwhelming numbers that even as God is exercising judgement on our State and the lives of our neighbors, it goes unrecognized. Pressing on.
I worked on Capitol Hill before meeting my husband and his story definitely rings true to DC 😅
Pastor Joel your an "ACE" love you, GOD bless you.
On the topic of children showing good fruit of faith, can we get some examples on what those might look like? I think some kids can truly become saved younger, while most will be much older. So what should we consider solid good fruit of their faith? Which also will be different per their age. But I would love to hear specific examples on this, as I’m a literal brain. 🙏🏽♥️
Check out Hisadvocates Living in the Private considering state citizenship vs Us Citizenship. The Supreme Court recognizes one can exist without the other.
Romans 13,The Great Commission, and the "unhitching" from the Old Testament are at least in the top 3 sources of contention that most of our churches are dealing with or not dealing with now. Hence "Christian Nationalism" and all the details that fall beneath it now.
Constitution of a Christian Commonwealth
Preamble (Yes, you need to click the button to see the rest, and no it isn't finished. I'm throwing it out there to have people give feed back on the basic principles I present.)
We the people of this commonwealth humbly recognize that Jesus Christ is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and that all authority both in heaven and on earth are His. For that reason, we seek to submit to His rule, and govern ourselves according to His law as revealed in His Word, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Scriptures.
Institution and Purpose of Civil Government
Civil government is not a human institution, neither does it derive its just powers from the will of governors nor the consent of the governed, but civil government is a divine institution, instituted for the benefit of mankind as a minister of God for good. The purpose of civil government is to punish evil and to give praise to those who do good. Beyond that, civil government has no legitimate authority. Since good and evil are not defined by the ideas of man, but by the law of God, civil government has no legitimate power to legislate anything that does not conform to the law of God.
Relationship Between Church and Civil Government
Civil government and the church are parallel institutions of God for the good of mankind. While it is the purpose of civil government to look out for the physical wellbeing of man, it is the purpose of the church to look out for the spiritual wellbeing of man.
Religious Liberty and Liberty of Conscience
God alone is Lord of the conscience, and the Word of God (the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament) are the only standard by which God binds our conscience. Because all men are not of the same learning or understanding, Christ, for this current era, has ordained that His body, the church, should be divided into different denominations, each holding to their particular understandings of what the Scriptures teach. For this reason, the civil government should not seek to judge between brothers by seeking to establish one denomination above the others, or by restricting the free exercise of conscience by any Bible believing denomination. Lord willing, as the knowledge of the Scriptures increase, and true Christians (those who through the power of the Spirit believe God who is without falsehood) continue to dialog, those denominational differences will become less and less until Christ’s body, the one true catholic and apostolic church, is truly united in the same mind and the same judgement.
Christ rejecting Jews, Muslims, the Roman Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, anti-trinitarian cults, liberal Protestant denominations, and any other group which has rejected the authority of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments for their own idolatrous traditions, are not true churches, and while they may choose to live peacefully among us, and the rights of their members to life, liberty, and property are to be protected, their members may not serve as officers in civil government. The reason being that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Word is the knowledge of truth and justice.
Basic Principle of Civil Law
In the Apostle Paul’s dialog on civil government in Romans 13, after he has given the purpose for civil government, he has this to say:
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:8-10 NKJV)
While civil government does not have the power to cause people to love their neighbors; civil government does have the power to punish those who harm their neighbors; either in their persons (“You shall not murder”), in their property (“You shall not steal”), in their reputations (“You shall not bear false witness”), or in their God ordained relationships (“You shall not commit adultery”). While civil government has the just power to punish those who harm their neighbors, it in no means is to be the means by which neighbors are harmed. A civil government that unjustly harms its citizens, either by unjust punishments, endangerment (i.e. restricting the right of lawful self-defense), or unlawful taxation, is a criminal government.
Taxes
Taxes are only for the purpose of supporting the justice system. They may be used for paying officers and their secretaries so that they can labor in their duty of providing justice, or for the provision of buildings for courts and holding cells for violent criminals awaiting trial. Salaries may not exceed the median income of the population of the community, and buildings should be kept to a minimum.
Taxes used for any other purpose (roads, schools, wealth transfers, exorbitant salaries, etc.) is theft and must be treated as such.
Officers
Officers are to be Christian men (males), members in good standing of a trinitarian church that views the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. Officers must be over the age of forty years, without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, with an excellent knowledge of the Word of God; not given to the abuse of alcohol or other substances, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous and therefore open to bribes; one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence; not a new convert to the Christian faith, and he must have good testimony from those who are outside the Christian faith.
Electors
Electors are any male members of the community over the age of 21 years, regardless of religious affiliation.
This movement will easily lead to persecution of Christians by other so-called Christians. Yikes! We don’t want another road to lead to Rome. Too many blurry lines.
The apostate church lost America and now the wicked left dominates and will continue to do so and things will get worse.
I enjoyed listening in. I would agree Covid ended, actually, when people were done with it. However, as we observe what took place in bringing people to “be done with it”, we easily see people were “done” once the further variants were less lethal, and the statistics of health and survival drastically improved. The need for the measures such as masks/vaccines was drastically diminished since the symptoms of the new variants were so minimal, and numbers of people dying from Covid were greatly reduced. It would be dishonest to portray the situation as having had a non-changing non-diminished virus of which people simply grew weary. Each new variant was less lethal, but the requests regarding masks and vaccines stayed the same. That’s when people were “done”. I think greater care should be taken in your discussion of what people went through with Covid. Millions of people lost dear and cherished loved ones and your hearts seem pretty cold in your take, as though there was never a worry to be had from the onset.
