Pre-time skip, this beat down had me convinced that Akainu was top3 in durability in the verse
Anyone sayin akainu won or even would come close is cappin. White Beard took on just about the whole navy ALONE. All while being extremly Ill to the point he was on oxygen tanks and hes older than any of them were….it was a one sided battle n they still lost to him.

Watching that arc for the first with my girlfriend is a core memory. We were both just shocked and absolutely AMAZED at how much the story developed in one arc. Bc before then it was always a little info here, a little info there. But wow just wow. One of the greatest arcs in anime!
This is one of the weirdest narratives to come out of Marineford. Whitebeard got the drop on Akainu with killing intent after Akainu killed Ace and delivered one of the worst attacks we’ve seen in OP… and Akainu got up and blew half Whitebeard face off before going on to fight the rest of the Whitebeard pirates by himself.
Akainu was clearly stronger at Marineford and the straight up MVP of the arc. Killed Roger’s son and all but killed Whitebeard on the same damn day.
The anime did Akainu dirty he was fucking WB up in the manga and WB only got his best hit in off a sneak attack then Akainu gets up like nothing happens and beats his whole crew
