In his career, Motown legend Smokey Robinson, front man of The Miracles, has written or co-written upwards of 4,000 songs, most of them about one thing: love. At 82, he’s still touring and performing, and will soon release “Gasms,” his first album in nearly a decade. Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Robinson (who was named one of the Recording Academy’s MusiCares Honorees this year) about becoming a force in the music industry; overcoming racism while touring the Deep South; and ending his drug addiction.

Smokey Robinson is one of my Favourite Motown Singer's. His songs are very beautiful and carry very important messages that only our hearts can decode. Thank you for sharing CBS. Kind regards from Figueira da Foz, Portugal.
I grew up listening to Smokey & the Miracles. He’s an eternal classic & legend! I still ♥️ his music to this day……
Growing up in London in the 60sand 70s he was the soundtrack of our lives. 😍🎶👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎
The music of that period was and still is the best by far
Smoky looks and sounds AMAZING!!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TALENTED MAN! 😎😍
Wow, he’s doing great, obviously has had some face work, but to be his age & still doing what he LOVES-is what’s keeping him young!! So talented & humble, good looking & a down to earth REAL person…great interview, keep on keepin on Smokey. Luv U & your music always!!! 😱👍❤️❤️❤️🙏🌞❗️❗️
As I get older, I can honestly say that Motown is the Greatest American Music of all time. Certainly the greatest Pop Music. Watch any movie that takes place in the 60’s, Motown is the soundtrack. Vietnam War Movies, Motown is right there with the Hard and Psychedelic Rock. There was no Black Music and White Music. Just Great Music. Motown is what we should play for the Aliens when they come to conquer us and along with The Beatles, Mozart, Beethoven, say this is the best the Human Race has to offer.
More young singers should be looking to produce music that no one has to tell the kids to leave the room. No abusive words about anything .
Legend! Great job tonight on the Grammys !
💛
An icon.
My life has changed Thank you Jesus.$32,000 weekly profit Our lord God have lifted up my Life!!,Glory to the everlasting God Almighty.
He is so vital to music! What a blessing his contribution has been ❤
Man, that’s a bad die job why doesn’t he put a little gray in that head?
It is redundant to say "Great" and "Smokey Robinson." To me, they are synonymous. His worst song is probably better than any song on the Grammy's last night.
W O W 83 and still going STRONG 💪🏿 💪🏿
Blessing the world! Thank you, Smokey ❤
Yes Mr. Smokey Robinson! Live your life to the fullest my fellow Detroiter.
My ❤️, My Soul, My Guy, I LOVE YOUR FACE, Agony & Estacy but Timeless Love… Im so Grateful & Blessed…I love when we're crusin together ❤️
One of my favorite concerts!!
Beautiful
What a wonderful interview with Smokey Robinson! He is so loved!! 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
I still smoke marijuana is what I didn’t expect to hear from Smokey Lmao . The goat
I've been watching Smokey's recent appearance on VladTV and watched him sing in The Temptations movie on Pluto TV yesterday. Magnificent 🙌🏼
Why did he write that Little Girl Little Girl song?
Smokey is THE Legend!
I don't smoke marijuana. But I may start, if makes me look 60 at 83 and gives the energy of a 40 year old.
At the age of 12, I fully discovered the mysterious and wonderful creatures called girls. I remember slow dancing to old Smokey tunes at our middle school dances, and the smell of the gym and the girls' bargain-brand perfume. A great memory, and Smokey will always be part of it.
Smokey Robinson = Love Love Love.
THAT DYED HAIR AND EYELINER OY VEY….GHASTLY LOOKING
Smokey was a great artist and singer. Thanks for the memories Smokey Robinson
Love him changed the world
Does it always have to be about race? How about the music?
My first favorite(s): Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
Leave it to mainstream media to work race into everything in the universe. Their sick and evil mission is to divide us and it’s mission accomplished!
Living Legend. His story is fascinating. He started out as a teenager in the doowop group The Matadors and then became the Miracles. He wrote virtually all of Mary Wells hits, plus thousands more. He also wrote The Supremes early tracks but none of them became hits (no-hit Supremes pre 1964!). I love The Miracles. My favourite track is called "That's what Love is Made of", virtually unknown. I would just say though that there is more to Motown than just Smokey, Stevie and Diana. Hitsville created some amazing talent – the likes of Brenda Holloway, Kim Weston, The Contours, The Velvelettes – all of which are usually not mentioned at big Motown shows which is a shame.
The master himself.I love Smokey Robinson -David from South Africa
