The Goonies is one of the best kids adventure movies of all time, starring Sean Astin as Mikey, Josh Brolin as Brand, Ke Huy Quan as Data, Corey Feldman as Mouth, and Jeff Cohen as Chunk! How did this film inspire Stranger Things? Erik Voss breaks down one of his favorite Amblin classics to explain why, despite the film being directed by Richard Donner, it’s often recalled as a Spielberg film!

Which of the Goonies do you most identify with?
The movie came out the year I graduated from high school. I loved how real the kids were in this movie.
Why do I always forget Josh Brolin is in this movie
In case you didn't know, when the Disney Channel showed this, it included the missing Chunk licking the ice-cream in the convenience store scene AND the missing octopus scene! I loved it!!!
What if Sean Austin's character found the ship but encountered some trouble so he sent out a distress call to all the goonies and they have to retrace his steps while reminiscing? Cut my check!!
Outstanding. This has been the best video from this channel I have seen.
Not exactly audio commentary – but I like what they did on the (standard) DVD with the cast and director watching and giving their thoughts on Goonies (I'm surprised more DVDs didn't do this method than just the standard audio commentary)
To put it mildly, I didn't like this movie.
You guys should do a deep dive on the original Jumanji movie!!
I used to have a copper teapot. I named it “Chester.”
12:00 Actually, I think these are sound effects from Friday the 13th. Not Psycho
you missed the part where they caught chunk on the road, he was singing, but in the mirror he was smoking
I miss the 1980s… Great times 😎
This isn't a Spielberg film!
The reason he grabs Brad and trys to kill him with the xar is bc of details in a deleted seens there on u tube some them and some are lost to time some of the deleted seens actually made it to some of the tv runs of the show
Excellent video!
I had this movie taped from tv with all the curse words changed and when Mama says “Kids suck” they cut out suck and she just says “Kids” 😂
An camp/ RV / cabin spot in Astoria plays this non stop on their camp channel. Their are regular channels also but walking through camp you can hear this movie playing on all the tvs even if their isn’t anyone in the cabin. It’s a movie that just won’t die.
Could not finish this. It’s just a play by play of the movie
“Last year’s Oscar winner for best supporting actor…”
He has a name dude. Or do you just not like Asians and their lawyers?
If they EVER make a sequel to this movie I'd love to see it about the boys coming together again to find and recover that ship.
These old films are super fun but they were only made to get kids on set to abuse them.
The 80's was great with family movies. Goonies, Flight of the Navigator, Never Ending Story, Back to the Future, the Dark Crystal and many many more.
Ah, this reminds me why I have always loved this movie. One of the first times I went to see a film more than once as a kid! Good times…
