The Gods of Hollow Knight EXPLAINED

Hollow Knight prides itself in its legendary experience of gameplay and near-unspoken storytelling that uses every bit of its unique visuals and outstanding music (created by the talented Christopher Larkin) to immerse players in the world of Hallownest.

But one of the more jarring tidbits is their “gods.” In this video, I cover the lore and history of Hallownest’s “gods”, from the start of Hollow Knight to the end of its final DLC, Godmaster. Join me in breaking down Hollow Knight’s incredible lore and the interesting parallels it shares through its roster of “gods.”

  1. 4:20
Objection: the dreamers weren’t higher beings- at best only two were, but I see no evidence for Monomon or Lurien being higher beings, and on a lore tablet in fungal wastes referring to deepnest it says “Their sealed mother, but the common beast.", referring to Herrah.
7:25 It’s not dream borne, the Kingsmould was holding it. The infection and dreamer seal points are correct tho.

  2. All of the “gods” of hollow nest are all false gods because they are all mortal . Even the pale king and radiance were still mortal just extremely powerful . Higher beings is a better world . In my opinion the void is the only ARGUABLE god because the ancient creatures or “ void beings” are all dead or sleeping (except for unn (maybe?)) and they worshiped the void long before the pale king

Also the king soul doesn’t become the void soul it’s broken open so I think it means the pale king tried to cover up the voids power

Also great vid ,always wanted something like this
