  1. Although it's easy to point at the ghost hunters and call them idiots they were ghost enthusiasts not railway enthusiasts. They probably thought the train bridge, being from the 1850s was out of service or that a train wouldn't be along at 2am but as the saying goes "Anytime is train time"

  3. You missed out on what is probably the most chilling fact of this wreck. The wreck killed 23 people, including the engineer and fireman. It was discovered that spikes had been removed from the rails leading up to the bridge. Making this a clear act of intentional train wrecking. Over the next weeks and months, the papers reported a few other incidents of potential tampering at the site, including one on December 24, 1892 in which additional ties were placed on the rails. An extra freight train, running ahead of the scheduled passenger train, managed to knock them off the tracks without derailing the train or serious incident. Several people were detained and interrogated, but eventually released. In 1897, two men who were already in the state penitentiary were convicted of alleged confessions to other inmates of causing the wreck. However their confessions where not satisfactory and contradicted evidence.

The person(s) who caused this wreck were never found.

  4. I have one story from Indonesia about one of its 'Cursed' Engines. And when I say Cursed, I mean those engines really brings bad luck to the Railway. I'll cover one engine for a start here.

BB30127 (No. 27 for short), is one of the many PJKA BB301 class and was once an engine who pull the express service from Bandung to Jakarta regurlaly (mostly known as the Parahyangan train) and was one of the unique BB301s back then as She was given a different livery than the rest of Her classmates.

But this is where Her career goes downhill.

Around the mid 1970s, 27's Driver was having an arguement with the Fireman (now mostly prefered as the Assistant Driver) which resulted in the Fireman being killed after the Driver forced the Fireman's head into the exhaust fan. Later, the Driver decided to end His life just like that not long after the Fireman was killed.

From that day on, strange things began to happen around and inside no. 27. Such as a silhouette of a Girl can be seen on the engine room (no the fireman isn't really a girl, this is just how it is mostly in Indonesia) and the present of 'another Crew' inside the cab was noticed by Her crew while working. Not only the Crew that had this weird experience, the Technician who would check the engine all over had some fright when the engine room door suddenly slam shut by its own.

More weird things began to happened when this Engine was moved from Bandung to Sidotopo in 1985. She would roll of on Her own more often here. She ran away from a cement factory for a couple of km before someone at Indro Station spotted Her, jumps into Her cab, and put on the brakes. but it doesn't end there. 27 was idling at Sidotopo Shed when Her brakes came off by itself and She began to roll off on Her own before came into a stop after hitting several houses. This Engine went missing once and make the whole crew at the Shed horrified. A search was conducted on several stations to locate where did the engine had gone to. 27 was found at Benteng station, not really that far from Sidotopo. The people who worked at the station think that 27 was there to assist shunting duties. After that, She was brought back home.

But wait, it doesn't end there. She ran away again from Solo and came to a halt after hitting the buffer stop at a siding at Palur Station. Some workers at Sidotopo believed that this Engine has a supernatural power and would oftenly held a ritual to make whatever sits inside 27 go away. While some workers who didn't believed in supernatural tought this all happened because mistakes were made.

after 10 years at Sidotopo with Her spooky tales, She was finally moved to Madiun in 1995 aswell as ending the 'curse' that had been following Her. She was decomissioned later in 2005. And currently, She sat at the Yogya works, never to be moved again.

Its funny how a single Locomotive can bring such havocs to the Railway.

  5. “Legends say Indonesia’s Railways are plagued by dark echoes of the past that continue to haunt every now and then.. there’s stories of engines suffering from strokes of misfortune.. then.. there were those who had their crews kill each other in their own cabs! One engine had the unfortunate time to hear it’s crew arguing and the firemen screams as his head was burned, then BAM there was a gunshot and the driver’s body thudded to the ground.. ever since then this Poor Engine was plagued by terror, spirits and Bad luck who knows when she’d be finally free…”- Unnamed visiting engine

  6. Really enjoyed hearing you talk about this story in particular! I live around the Carolina area and really glad to hear more talk of the Western North Carolina railroad. Very well done indeed, love these videos!

  7. if one of the ghost hunters died on the bridge does that mean their ghost hunting friends can still talk to them? like with old tape recorders like on ghost adventures?

  8. I heard on a side note another case where someone heard the crash, ran toward the bridge via the road and saw a conductor that had injuries asking for the time… person found out later it was a ghost

  9. This is an interesting scenario where a ghost story caused actual deaths – normally people are more frightened of ghosts than more ordinary things, but in this case people weren't scared of what they thought was a ghost only for it to be a real train. Now might that train become a ghost train as well? Perhaps there will be two different ghost trains from 119 years apart, at the same time.

  10. I work for the railroad that runs that line which goes through my home town and I've asked around about it and they've never seen it but they've heard the steam whistle in the middle of the night.
