The GENIUS of CIS Fleet Building

New Marvel short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7E68dY5p8Y

As we’ll discuss in today’s video, the CIS in the Clone Wars were masters of intelligent fleet building… quietly bringing tens of thousands of ships against the Republic, when they weren’t supposed to be building any!

  1. Bro ive always said, the deadliest army in starwars was the CIS droid army. If not tethered by palpatine, i feel they would was won the war with in just a few months. And furthermore, would take on any army from any other universe and win. Yeah I’m looking at you WH40K

  2. I think the CIS highlight one of the biggest flaws of the empire and the openly xenophobic palpatine. And a side we saw somewhat in the rebellion. Diversity. We do see a diverse array of senators and jedi sure but often out of necessity in the republic senate where as the actual military, researchers, engineers, officers we saw nothing but humans 95% of the time discounting clones. This lead a far more diverse perspectives within the CIS and Rebellion from the persepctive designs of numerous different alien species who would be able to provide unique technological developments and ideas. the Moncalimary were ESSENTIAL to the rebellion due to their habitable large capital ships which were made to move and were insanely durable. They also had a better grasp of 3D tactics living in a more vertically mobile environment. The CIS were less under palpatines control due to their fragmented nature, with him mostly controlling their military more than anything else. Twileks offering some of the most skilled pilots and cunning stratiagists for guerilla warfare. Logistical chains from various smugglers and spice runners.

  3. I dont like the republic or the CIS as a faction, they both had insanely large issues which lead to each's downfall and the rise of the empire, which would take the worst aspects of both and oppress the people.

  4. A lot of what you said reminds me of historians talking about America arming for WW2. Leveraging a massive consumer output to turn out massive war assets. Many small US companies doing what they could, in any small part, that would lead to a much larger project.

  5. the republic were less a "dominant" force and far more a waning power.
Rules without the manpower to enforce them and the intelligence network to uncover those who wolud abuse said rules aren't worth the time and energy spent participating.

the consistant dis-armament in the face of growing oppositional forces is the core weakness of every republic that star wars has ever had, including that of the disney spin off universe (heavily based off far superior expanded universe novelisations).

  6. I’ve always had a fascination with the ships of the CIS fleets. So much so that I’ve spent the last few years creating an entire lego CIS fleet. They certainly are well designed.

  7. I do like how the Lukrehulk's origin as civilian freighters helps explain why, despite being utterly coated in light laser cannons, the ships had several holes in their defenses that Republic starfighters could exploit.

  8. Being able to combat a dominant galactic government
Y'know I'd give them more credit for that if it was like the Confed vs the Union
But both of those sides were already equally well armed
Starwars' CIS is the Confed vs like… New Zealand. If it was the size of South America but still as nonmilitarized

  9. As someone that recently played a Bankingclan captain in a FFG game, I gained a new love of the Muunificent class, as that was the characters long term goal for a flagship. Unfortunately, they had a very successful, but brief career before dying. But the fondness for the ship class remains. The cr90 still remains my favorite though.

  10. Wish CIS would’ve gotten a fair shake at being independent. It could’ve grown to a legit outer worlds government or confederation that would actually benefit those worlds.

  11. CIS is so terrifying as a concept that they not only nerfed the droids capabilities, but also gave them really silly voices and personalities to undercut the pure horror of facing a limitless army of unfeeling world-conquering killing machines…

I love how Mando's hatred of droids comes from his experience with this. It's great character development but also EXCELLENT world-building because I always felt like nobody really took the battledroids too seriously when I was a kid.

  12. From what I have read in these comments is that if Palpatine had not been manipulating the war, The CIS would(well there probably wouldn't have been a Clone War)have more than likely steam rolled over The Republic. A "What if Palpatine had not been manipulating both sides of The War, who would have won?" sounds like a good vid. I'm thinking someone may have done it before, but a person with your depth of Star Wars knowledge and analytical skills would probably make a great vid on the topic.

Hey Eck, thank you for having a video that's more than a minute long. I've missed your knowledge and content on Star Wars, and the 1 min clips at least for me don't seem to catch my attention. I love how the Rebellion used The Recusant and modified it into "Rebel 1" though a bit vulnerable in the engine department, it's still an effective ship and a great looking one as well. I think The CIS as a whole had if The Clone Wars weren't manipulated by Palpatine, The CIS would more than likely have won. It's not that The Venator, Acclimator, and whatever other ships The Republic had at the time weren't bad, I just think The CIS had a better variety of ships that were easily modified for specific functions. Loxy Light did point out that The CIS could have used some Corvettes as well, and though The Recusant had some anti-star fighter capabilities, a dedicated anti-starfighter ship would have filled a nice role. Over all good vid Eck.

  13. I all ways thought it was weird that the cis never made a fully automated capital ship, one with no internal space but a big brain baried
deep within the ship like the drone star fighters but the intelligence of a tactical droid.

The ships would of been a lot smaller, faster and would have a more dense defence/attack weapons network.

Imagine the fire power and defence ability of a battle ship but the size profile of a large frigate or small cruise.

Yes the cis started off as more civilian based but as the war started they could of churned out a lot of these ships in quick
order, and yes they would be difficult to perfect but they did have droids in all forms of their military for quite some time
    so wouldn't take much effort.

  14. Republic: warships are illegal, and we have no standing army

CIS: that's nice and all but we've been secretly building ships and droids for years

Republic: lol jk we suddenly have clones and ships ready to go

  15. I'm a big fan of the CIS. If they weren't setup to stalemate with the Republic by Palpatine, they could have fielded much more threatening hardware in their mass produced Droid armies and been a truly dominant force.
