A Top Down Level Based Action Adventure Game from 1997 won GOTY.
Wukong was GOTY. They just didn't put enough fat ugly women in their game about Chinese Mythology
This was one of the best TGA I saw. In comparison to the last 3 years, where it got worse and worse, this was a step in the right direction. Thanks to all who made what it was. And congratz to all the winners and nominees.

I'm curious to how the winners were decided seeing as how PS exclusive games conveniently won all the biggest and most important awards, not even games that are available on both PS and PC so people who don't own a PS can try them, PS EXCLUSIVE games. Kinda feels rigged to try and trick people into buying PlayStations so they can experience the so called "best" games of 2024.

People talk about what astrobot means to platformers as if platformers have been gone for a long time. But the truth is that every once in a while Nintendo comes out with a really good platform game, and they don't win. All of a sudden SONY comes with a platformer that's not really different, and it wins Game of the Year. To say that the meaning of platform games is far less than it takes two, it takes two to really bring new blood to platform games.
They say fun is the most important thing, but aren't other games fun? All of a sudden, the game industry became all about fun, but astrobot didn't sell that many games.
There was talk of astrobot's gamepad vibration innovation. But astrobot is a sequel, an innovation that was introduced four years ago by its predecessor.
And when it comes to innovation, no game in 10 or 15 years is qualified to talk about innovation in front of ALYX. ALYX 2020 isn't even nominated for Game of the Year. Guess who the Game of the year was four years ago? Controversial TLOU2.

Just like the story of Wukong, those who hold power are the ones with a voice. Wukong chose self-destruction because he saw through it all and his heart died. This year, all the players are like Wukong himself, experiencing it in the game and feeling it in real life.
