*** TODAY’S PUZZLE ***
We don’t want to say too much about this latest sudoku from Chameleon. We just encourage you to give it a go. It has 1 star for difficulty (suggesting it should be very easy) and a ludicrous 80% approval rating – we would give it 100%.
Play the puzzle at the link below:
https://link.sudokupad.app/chameleon-fogx
Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply ie place digits 1-6 into each row, column and box without repeats. Most of the grid is covered in fog; placing correct digits (without guessing!) will clear the fog from adjacent cells. Digits in a cage cannot repeat and sum to the small clue in the top left corner (if given). Digits do not repeat on a blue line.

Hi there, Chameleon in the house 🙂
Having this puzzle solved on the channel was a pleasant surprise for me!
Hope that it brings a smile on somebody's face 🙂
P.S. It's not a 1-star for difficulty for sure. I guess that people on LMD decided to return the joke…
Awesome puzzle! Somehow, on my screen, the line does go into the corner cell, though, so I couldn't find a solution. Came to the video and noticed your line doesn't reach the corner 2. I messed with the settings to see if anything would change the grid size to correct it, but found nothing! Anyone else got the same issue?
Naughty lines can at every moment bend and end. And if this wouldn't be enough… blue lines may also touch hyperbolically, parabolically, diabolically. In what times do we live in? My personal favourite part of the solve was though, when Simon switched off the conflict checker. The dignity of this chamber does not allow conflict checkers.
We need more trol puzzles! Crazy text and lines!
That was funny. The reason for the low rating must be due to rage quitting after being fooled to think R5C5 could not be a 5 🙂
Should have been called "Foggy Xpectations"
Just pencilmark everything 123456 and delete options… it's a 5 minute puzzle that way…
16:40 for me. I messed it up and had to restart.
Solved it in 15 minutes and then went back to watch Simon's reactions as he cleared the fog 😀 (And get frustrated that it took him way too long to see that R6C4 was green… That was clear from placing the blue at 19:14, after which there was only one place for green to go in the 6-cage)
The only reason I find not to approve this puzzle is that, with the clues given at the start, there is more than one solution. Uniqueness is only provided by a clue uncovered in the fog. Nevertheless, great fun, and quite accessible.
Simon's refusal to pencil mark caught up with him this time. If he had put the 356 in the large cage he would have easily seen that green had to go in R6C4
YAY! This was my first ever sudoku solved which was shown on the channel, im so proud of myself – i know its not the hardest one but usually the ones you feature on the channel are over my league. Thanks for sharing this one :). My Time was 00:21:09, im still so proud haha
19:28 for me. What a funny puzzle!
Lot's of fun and a few laughs. Finished in 17:12 (Including accidentally misreading the >3 clue)
Mateo here! Opening night was a smashing success. Thanks for the shoutout, Simon! Nothing helps me decompress after a show like a Cracking the Cryptic video and (if the puzzles are easy enough) an attempt at a solve. Thank you for all you do! <3
got stuck after 12 minutes. Nice to see Simon get slowed down at the same part as I did.
Forgot to un-pause, no time for me. I'd say the difficulty is based on how long it takes to SPOILER
*use a 4th color.
I feel like I must’ve done something wrong because I was able to reveal the corner digit without putting something directly into it. Using the “green in the 6 cell cage” logic that others have referred to, you can propagate a lot more info around the grid – and I determined that a 3 in the 8 cage would have put a 3 in the upper right corner. So I got the 2 there and the 5 before I got the 2 in the corner 😅 Oh well! Still a fun solve that I had to try about 4 times (I got caught on assuming the blue line extended methinks.)
I could have sworn the first time I did this, the text length at the top left was such that only the “7!” bit poked out from under the fog, so I was like “what’s that mean?” and then the comedy was that revealing it showed the whole sentence
I mean am I imagining that? It was funny when I (thought I) did it, but going back to the puzzle now it’s as nonsensical as Simon found it
Funny little puzzle.
I solved this faster than Simon because he forgot about the 6 celled cage
A fun 40 minutes!
Fantastic! I haven't laughed at a sudoku before. Well done Chameleon!
Very wonderful. I went to colors much quicker this time, and was able to complete it quicker than Simon.
Me: solving the puzzle by coloring all those squares, then watching the video to see how Simon does it in a far cleverer way without coloring those squares
Simon: starts coloring those squares being like "you might go crazy if you try this without coloring
Me: ^_^
16:52
Instead of coloring, just look at the 8-cage and R2C5 more closely
If the 8-cage uses 2/5, then the 2 in R4C4 puts a 2 into R2C5
If the 8-cage uses 3/4, then the 4 in R5c5 puts a 2 into R2C5
Either way, a 2 goes into R2C5 and then that puts another 2 into the final shaded square in R6C6
When you said that a box was either 4 or blue, that immediately clued me in that the blues were 5 because 4 or 5 were the only options for that square. An odd bit of logic puzzling
I managed to completely miss solving r6c1=1 until much later in the puzzle.
