The Full Story of Dead Island Riptide – Before You Play Dead Island 2

Dead Island: Riptide may have been positioned by Deep Silver and developers Techland as a standalone sequel to the original Dead Island, but though it wasn’t a numerical follow up, from a narrative perspective, it very much felt that way.

The upcoming Dead Island 2 is, of course, going to feature a new cast of characters and a new setting, which means it’ll be quite divorced from its predecessors where its story is concerned, but there’s plenty about the characters of the universe and things such as the zombie virus outbreak and its origins that get more light shed on them in Riptide. To that end, then, here, we’re going to follow up on our recent recap of Dead Island’s story and cover the full story of Dead Island: Riptide.

  1. I hope they can explain what happened at the end of Riptide thanks to Sam B being alive and perhaps another character, I saw the interview of how the story connects but of course no answer to the ending of Riptide

  2. I thought dead island 2 happens because some or all of the good guys lose the battle with the mutagen and become a new infected and carry the virus to calafonia. It would be cool to fight them as a sub boss or talk with them about what they have been doing or maybe they could be part of the DLC pack can’t wait to play the new game.

  4. You know what's funny? Almost all of these villains don't understand that the money will be worthless and they'll have nothing to rule over because of how fast the virus is. By the time they're rolling in money the world would be in danger and nothing can stop it as it destroys people, including the villains themselves.
