  1. With way too many hours on Elite Squadron and this game’s online multiplayer, this was certainly the more balanced of the two.

Elite Squadron’s sniper rifle (which had ridiculous auto-aim even for the wonky controls) mixed with the Rage power-up and the stealth suit were massively overpowered. You’d often get spawn camped at your base by invisible snipers. You also wouldn’t get notified that you were being locked-on to by human players, which is another problem that made the stealth suit so strong in Elite.

Here, gameplay was more movement-based and weapons that could hit your opponent while they were rolling were top-tier. I remember the bowcaster, incinerator, and arc caster (if you could target a bot next to a competent player) were exceptionally good. You could also get around the lock-on notification by free-aiming, so stealthy rocket launcher builds were pretty popular.

The multiplayer metas for these Battlefront PSP were certainly not like the others, or even other shooters overall. Definitely not balanced, but unique.

  2. You need to do Elite Squadron next. Its made using the battlefront 3 stuff. Its got the bf3 story and the ground to space battles (with a cutscene, its a handheld game afterall) and the customization stuff too

  3. Top tip: you can change the controls to fire with the R button and aim using square, triangle, circle and X, Turning those buttons into the right analogue stick. It massively improves this game

  4. I originally got my PlayStation Portable just to play this game. I was a major fan of battlefront 2 growing up and fell in love with renegade squadron instantly. The fact this game was on a portable blew my mind and to this day RS is my second favorite game in the series right behind Battlefront 2.

  5. My favorite thing with the class system was that if you went into multi-player, set your class way over the max limit, and then turned off the psp internet connection, you would keep the over powered class as long as you didn't go back to customize it.

Nothing like having a chain gun and full stats with a jet pack.

  6. Frankly I'm pleasently surprised how the Developers took already existing material and added it to their game. The T4-B from Empire at War, the Korriban look from Kotor (just with a bit more marble), etc. Honestly, this could be a pretty good Battlefront 3, if it were made for the big Computers.

  7. Imagine if someone made some sort of conversion mod for Battlefront 2 that reconstructed Renegade Squadron. You could easily add all the stuff from the game and more.

The maps would need to be fixed though to add more stuff to do. And as for heroes they could take the opportunity to add heroes that should have been there from the start; IG-88, Lando, Bossk, Padme/Queen Amidala, Commander Cody, Ventress (and Durge, maybe).
