With way too many hours on Elite Squadron and this game’s online multiplayer, this was certainly the more balanced of the two.
Elite Squadron’s sniper rifle (which had ridiculous auto-aim even for the wonky controls) mixed with the Rage power-up and the stealth suit were massively overpowered. You’d often get spawn camped at your base by invisible snipers. You also wouldn’t get notified that you were being locked-on to by human players, which is another problem that made the stealth suit so strong in Elite.
Here, gameplay was more movement-based and weapons that could hit your opponent while they were rolling were top-tier. I remember the bowcaster, incinerator, and arc caster (if you could target a bot next to a competent player) were exceptionally good. You could also get around the lock-on notification by free-aiming, so stealthy rocket launcher builds were pretty popular.
The multiplayer metas for these Battlefront PSP were certainly not like the others, or even other shooters overall. Definitely not balanced, but unique.
Back when I played this as a kid, I switched to elite difficulty purely because I didn't like the autopilot system. And it made playing online and offline more consistent.
Definitely wasn’t forgotten but was shit on by elite squadron, if you were old enough to play it you know if not, you should go back to the new Battlefront with the rest of the undeveloped
You need to do Elite Squadron next. Its made using the battlefront 3 stuff. Its got the bf3 story and the ground to space battles (with a cutscene, its a handheld game afterall) and the customization stuff too
Top tip: you can change the controls to fire with the R button and aim using square, triangle, circle and X, Turning those buttons into the right analogue stick. It massively improves this game
I originally got my PlayStation Portable just to play this game. I was a major fan of battlefront 2 growing up and fell in love with renegade squadron instantly. The fact this game was on a portable blew my mind and to this day RS is my second favorite game in the series right behind Battlefront 2.
My favorite thing with the class system was that if you went into multi-player, set your class way over the max limit, and then turned off the psp internet connection, you would keep the over powered class as long as you didn't go back to customize it.
Nothing like having a chain gun and full stats with a jet pack.
Frankly I'm pleasently surprised how the Developers took already existing material and added it to their game. The T4-B from Empire at War, the Korriban look from Kotor (just with a bit more marble), etc. Honestly, this could be a pretty good Battlefront 3, if it were made for the big Computers.
Imagine if someone made some sort of conversion mod for Battlefront 2 that reconstructed Renegade Squadron. You could easily add all the stuff from the game and more.
The maps would need to be fixed though to add more stuff to do. And as for heroes they could take the opportunity to add heroes that should have been there from the start; IG-88, Lando, Bossk, Padme/Queen Amidala, Commander Cody, Ventress (and Durge, maybe).
Are you "flued"? Your quite recognizable voice sounds different.
Just saying this because I was confused at first.
I like the character customization.
Ooo would love to see a video for empire at war
I had this game for psp. I remember thinking it played like battlefront 2 should have played on psp. It was one of my favorite games to play
Isn’t Sullust a volcanic planet?
I remember this beauty. I was amazed at the blaster marks being left behind on walls😂
Create your own character designs was amazing

3:45 ‘I’ve been Trapped!!!!!!’
My favorite things about this video are the carbon gun and the aesthetics of korriban.
I played a battlefront game on 3ds but I forgot the name
Just noticed. Congrats on 100K.

This was my absolute first PSP game that I got with my special edition PSP as a kid, so many good memories with this game.
YOOOOOOOOOOOO FLAN CONGRATZ ON 100K DUDE
He's at 100K subs! I fully expected at least 250k. I've been watching for a rather long time…
Loved this and elite squadron.
This and Elite Squadron are great examples of why not all games should have stories.
Definitely wasn’t forgotten but was shit on by elite squadron, if you were old enough to play it you know if not, you should go back to the new Battlefront with the rest of the undeveloped
This was my Battlefront game, loved playing it over and over again despite how low-res and clunky it was
Should’ve just been dlc

I played elite squadron but not this one! Looks amazing
Mod for PC?

It's very impressive what this game managed to achieve despite being so limited by handheld hardware.
I love playing this game. Got it as a bundle with the Darth Vader PSP
If you didn’t play this game and Elite squadron online on the psp – you definitely missed out.
This game is the reason why I want a psp, and that’s it
Ah, Rebelion, the same masterminds behind Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death, the Sniper Elite series, and the best Aliens vs Predator game
Dayum. With limit hardware it sure looks fun.
This game is more star wars then the EA one

It's so cool to me that it has some vehicles from Empire at War, like the rebel T4-B tank.
Now that's a vehicle that was completely forgotten, together with the T2-B
Ahhh
The battlefront 3 we never got at leasr we got in PSP form
Bwings and defenders
Ugh good times
I remember playing this and setting the face buttons to control the camera made it alot easier to play
Hate Renegade Squadron just because Clone rifles have red, bot blue blaster shots! That a big mistake for me😂
Now here's an idea:
a Remastered release for Steam.
😃
Eh? EH?
Renegade Squadron is a classic, I replayed the campaign not long ago. Still great for an original story!
Orbital strike rifle for the win!
I wish they remastered this game for the PS4/ Series X

I was so tempted to buy a psp for this game (and crisis core).
I had a blast with both this and Elite on my psp during its shelf life, I hope they both get remastered

This is sick for a PSP game.
Renegade squadron is awesome
Still play it on my modded vita 😁
