Personally I love how the animatronics eyes glow in the film; It adds a bit of spookiness even though it’s not canon to the games. It reminds me of the film’s poster and just of the movie in general. I think it’s a nice touch
this movie was garbage script-wise and tone-wise. The first part of the movie was very solid, providing exposition to both fans and non-fans. After vanessa showed up, the movie threw away the potential it had at the start just to become a money cow for children. While i did go to the cinema with the marvelous expectations of: Mike Schmidt AKA Michael Afton, struggling to live through adulthood due to his siblings dying tragically and at the end, forced to fight his father, a child serial killer, the fact that scott threw this fucking intriguing and tragic universe away for A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE is awful. I'm not saying the fact that it's bad because it's a different universe, I am a big fan of the book trilogy myself, BUT him and the writing team didn't even commit to this alternative story. The movie shouldn't be defended, it should be called out for being slop, despite the people making this movie having millions of dollars in their pockets. At least I'm happy how much love and care they put into the cinematography, practical effects and the animatronics specifically, the movie was phenomenal visually
What I expected: A stupid cheesy movie that would be fun to watch and tickle my nostalgia.
What I got: A stupid cheesy movie that was fun to watch and tickled my nostalgia.
The first thing I said to my friend after watching it was “that movie was fucking stupid. I loved it”
I think a better comparison is Tokyo Drift. Tokyo drift has a pretty dumb story, with some forgettable characters, and some iconic characters (Han) and is mostly just fulled with obscure car-culture stuff, if you’re not into cars you won’t enjoy it. The same rings true here, it’s a dumb story with some iconic (Afton) and some forgettable characters, and if you’re not really into Fnaf you probably won’t enjoy it.
So for the picture that made them know the truth about William Afton, at the beginning the teacher says to Mike Schmidt that children communicate with drawings very well and the animatronics are children’s souls which explains how the drawings tells them the truth about William Afton. Not just that, but Vanessa said that the drawings on the wall were the animatronics core memory which also explains how the drawing showed the truth about William Afton.
This is kind of an adaptation of the books. Its where the drawings and reminding the spirits of the horrible things Afton did to them came from. I would guess all of the easter eggs where put there by Scott
I view the movie as an alternate continuity like every other part of the franchise that isn't the games. Like how Elizabeth was the only Afton in the first Trilogy of books, or how in Fazbear Frights that a person with the closest name to one we have for the Crying Child Afton (besides Garrett in the Movie) aka Evan, who has a brother named Mike, doesn't die in 1983 and instead dies as a soldier and has a son named Jake who dies from cancer instead. The point is that this Movie, regardless if it is a good story or not, is just having parallel events play out and swapping the Game Aftons and Vanessa's roles as children and victims with different names. Because most of the time the names being consistent don't matter in an alternate universe. People do change names or still have parallel meaning to these names, like Abby being an anagram of Baby, but who hasn't thought of multiple baby names for their kids if they thought of a lot of em?
I have never been a fanaff fan the story was crappy but I still loved the movie critic are not gods they don’t determine what u like
I loved watching it and discussing all the Lore of the games and theories with my sister all the way to the cinema, during the film and the way back. The film is baaaad but at the same time good? Objectively is bad, but we had a blast 💥
I agree with the review portion of the movie. It's a good movie considering that typically happens with video game adaptations. At the same time though, they did ruin the mood with the part everyone just knew the animatronics were possessed and that was OK for everyone. The lore in the games its treaded for more abnormally. I get a feeling that so much is shoved into the plot because there is no promise a sequel would be made and this movie can someone exist on it's own.
To be fair though, I am pretty sure that the drawings were important in the book series, but I do agree that it was pretty lazy
The movie lowkey sucked ass. But just being a fnaf fan and seeing the vision and my childhood come into the theaters was just so surreal that it was hard to hate the movie.
Excellent review and honestly you said what had to be said. As a long time fan myself (since 2014), I can’t deny the movie was seriously underwhelming in the horror aspect. I feel that a lot of fans are just happy to have a fnaf movie at all . And just defend it to the death rather then to admit it was a lackluster portrayal of the games.
We have seen Excellent things from the community such as the analog lost tapes that could have served as great inspiration for the movie but instead came it across as missed potential.
I’m not criticizing anyone who had fun with the movie and I’m happy that many people are satisfied with the film. But as an official fnaf project with a decent budget I think there had to be more substance other than cameos and fan service.
P.S. I don’t even mind the comedic element of fnaf but in the film it just comes across as inappropriate for the tone they were trying to set up. I understand the franchise is popular with Kids but it’s the mysterious horror aspect that made it popular to begin with…
I'm not the type to like watch movie but fnaf movie is good for me, i enjoy the easter egg, reference and much mcuh more, sure its bad but it delivered what the fan want quite well. And i agree it's being not gonna be enjoying it if you don't know what fnaf is. I mean we the fans are still trying to solve the story, even matpat too lol
Well, the movie was great, but I have a problem with Golden Freddy aka Cassidy. She is my favorite character, but I am afraid the movie will not touch on her or show her, especially after we saw the five children and Cassidy was not among them. As we know from the books she is a little kid with black hair , I really hope they show her, but at the same time I don't have high expectations for this😅
twitter sux that is all
more budget went into the visuals than the actual plot 😂😂😂
the movie is good shut
The movie was a 6/10 for me, above average for a game film but the few glaringly obvious plot holes ruined some of the story, the best bits were the fx and costume/set design tbh
I honestly don't get the criticism of the way the animatronics act when they befriend Abby. They are robots possessed by the ghosts of children, of course they are going to act like kids and try to do fun silly games so she will want to join them and also become an animatronic. As we saw later in the film, Freddy and the gang acting like that was all just a way to lure Abby in so they could kill her and stick her in a suit.
